Yeah, I don't hate them but now I'm getting a KR vibe.
How long until we get rick and morty kaiju?
If that ever happens I'll start collecting stamps.

If this happens I'm blaming you for putting the idea out there.

I love ‘em, personally. I don’t think Niall at all had any intention of a plagiarism aspect to it, but more of a reimagining to some classics he’s a fan of. I don’t see these existing in any different sense than when Gargamel did it, he just took a chubbier, bikkuriman approach, and I think it works great. I’m also not pickin’ up the KR vibe in the slightest, especially since the Hedogon even looks slightly similar to the Gargamel Crawling Hedoran. I might be out of the loop on some releases somewhere, but I’m not familiar with many pachi toys being reimagined as of late either.

What did you think "pachi" meant?

Pachi to me means old toys that were originally sold cheaply for profit, but years later become interesting and fun to collect. They often have very little known about who made them. Its a kind of crude beauty and unpretentious construction. Getting the job done efficiently with perhaps lack of care but also, occasionally, flashes of genius ...

The above, is far from that. First thing I thought was KR too. BUT i like KR, so i have no problem with that. Its just not my idea of how 'Pachi' should be used.

That is rather slippery of you, Agent Starling ...

I was gonna give you the definition, but I had my rant about definitions in that other thread, so I’ll leave it up to @Roger lol.

Pachi means fake, bootleg, knockoff. Pachi kaiju designs were unlicensed characters not tied to any TV show or movie. Gargamel got their start making their own knockoffs of those vintage pachi toys knockoffs and other makers followed suit. It's nearly a two-decade tradition now.

Anyone and everyone should be able to make their own toys from these designs, and I think ShinGangu did a good job with these.

Not any more slippery than the ungodly amount of different, reimagined Goji and Hedorah that exist! And those are licensed and given permission to play with! At least they weren’t given the exact same names and the form factor was somewhat dramatically changed. I guess you could argue a KR vibe(I personally didn’t even considerate it until it was put out there), but I’m still arguing for more of a Bikurriman rendition.

I actually was thinking Funko, making all of their toys within a specific set of proportions. Looks like they’re going short and chubby with this set. Not a fan, personally. I like my kaiju tall and ready to destroy, these are kind of ready to smash into each other like bumper cars :?

Yeah. What I said. Cheap toys.

But these in question aren't cheap, or even look like bootlegs. They look like designer toys.

That one’s like a mixture between Donkey Kong and George from Rampage. Very cartoony.

You said pachi is just another term for plagiarism. You were correct. Pachi is plagiarism.

    @Roger
Yes, but i don't see 'Pachi' as an umbrella term for Bootleg/KO toys. In my mind its a specific term for older vintage bootleg toys from back in the day. Not modern slick designer looking toys. When i used to browse Mandarake regularly, all the toys i saw that had the 'Pachi' tag were vintage. Thats what i associate with Pachi.

As i said, its probably just me.

I don't understand, you think this toy looks like RXH?
What sculpt are you comparing it to?
    Just curious...

uh oh, I like that toy a lot.
The boy with two monsters. I think that's its name.
The painted versions are pretty amazing in my opinion.
This opinion comes from a guy who has an entire "fuggliest toys" shelf in his apt.

I think the silhouette of the body can be loosely seen as similar to a RxH adult, added with the scarf. I wouldn’t personally own one, but I do think it’s a cool design.

Oh, the Mutant arm appendages just scream RxH to me and the scarf/bandana tops it off. Also Mori has done a few toys wearing jeans and a t-shirt and I suppose I could throw horns in there as well (Mori likes horns a lot).
