SUPER EXCITED to announce this little project. Secret Base got me into this crazy world back in 2005 and it feels really good to come full circle and be able to do my own fight toy. HUGE thanks to Joe for working with me, my mood boards and sketches to bring this guy to life in a way that really feels connected to the aesthetic that was developed started in Japan. So thank you Takeshi, Hirota, Hiddy, Mori, the Gargamel gang and all the other JP fight pioneers for inspiring and entertaining me for so long. Lots more to come in the future with this side of the DHP toy line.
Dude, yes!!! That’s so awesome, Toby!!! Totally gives me a Sagat from Street Fighter vibe! I love the wrapped hands and how exaggerated and extended the arms are!
Not exactly the biggest fan of the traditional Frankenghost, but I do like these Frankenball releases are cool as hell. I had the Frankengoner chase, but it went to a friend that was far more excited for it than I was at the time. Ggml x Ed Roth(unofficially, of course). What’s not to love?!
Working on a new display for all the fight can’t wait for new stuff to add as well as new old stuff as well
The inspiration for fight figure style? In particular the Dracula in the photo below... http://www.plaidstallions.com/tomland/minimonsters.html
I’ve never seen those two on the far left and right what’s the story on them? The skull face is what really caught my attention!
@Max Rodriguez They’re DBM fighters from Secret Base. Instead of the standard Skull Brain head beneath the mask these Cure Toy skulls are in its place. The one on the right is a chase blood splatter version. Maybe 2016 release?
Some crazy fighters turning up for sale over the past couple of days... lots of versions I've never seen before. Anybody get lucky?
I saw those two. My jaw particularly fell when I saw the blank black Mad Mantis. But the GID Mad Mantis with the one red glow head were also “holy shit” material. I was really surprised to see a green Grapple Shark, too. There were a handful of others I was rather wide eyed seeing, but I unfortunately didn’t grab any. I gotta pay more attention.
Whenever I see amazing dumps like this I immediately wonder who brought this stuff to Mandarake? Some of these have to be unreleased test paints right?
Picked up a couple of the newer style Obakes I was missing but missed a couple of others I would've liked to add to the line-up. There was a bunch of cool rare stuff for sure, but I don't think there were any 'test shots' per se. There always seems to be a few unpainted S7 releases in circulation for the more hardcore SB collectors, of which this seller seems to be.
I'm surprised to see yet another GID Ghostfighter surface. It was an amazing selection of stuff, but nothing had packaging, most of the items were damaged or 'sticky', and prices were close to original retail. Seems like someone was selling their entire personal collection that had, perhaps, sat in a box in storage for quite a while. Interesting to see prices creep up on old fights, though. Several years ago, most of those would have gone for 2,000 yen mint and unopened.
I’m assuming you mean the bunch that were posted on mandarake overnight (USA time)- There were some gems and some deals To be had.... I’m keeping my fingers crossed! @xSuicide Squadx You ain’t never lied, and you have reminded me that I need to track down that beautiful astrobrain!
such a great time to get into secret base fight right now. i've seen so many $25-$30 figs over the past couple years. if the me from the past could talk to the me from now i would have waited to buy 75% of my collection
