Here's what I do: • Get the URL for the image that you want to post • Type any text that you want to go along with your image • Post the URL of the image • Select the URL text that you just entered by putting your cursor in the middle of that text, and selecting "select" • Drag the screen around till you can see the Img button above the text entry field • Tap that button, and it'll put the tags around your image. That sounds like a lot of steps, but it's really quick once you've done it before.
Thanks guys, it seems the problem might be because I am trying to link from the big cartel site as I've done it successfully from another URL. While I'm at it, any pointers on how to post an image from my own saved library on an iPad?
That one's a little trickier. What I do is I use a free app called Picup to upload the photo to Imgur, and then I get the url from Imgur and post that.
re: grabbing an image url on an ipad for many sites, you'll need a source viewer like this: http://snoopy.allmarkedup.com/ then you can copy/paste the image url just like you would with a desktop browser. mobile browsers seem to have a difficult time getting the image source when it's a link, a background image or dynamically loaded. viewing the source will give you access to at least the non-dynamic ones.
^ in your specific instance (referring to the axe face photos), the problem is actually with the way bigcartel displays their catalog -- the images are background images so that they can easily overlay promotional or status messages onto the item photos. those kind of images are difficult to grab even on desktop browsers since the normal right-click affords no access to them. another way to grab image urls is by pressing on one until you get the pop-up, choose copy, open a new tab, paste into the address bar, then copy the text from there into the forum text box. for some reason, you can't paste directly into the forum without the intermediary address bar step
