sold on yja earlier today. probably im wrong, but colors looking a little off to me, spray on head is pretty heavy handed. thoughts?
i'd say it's GID and real...didn't they do a blue version around that time?? quick,,somebody grab their mook!!
I'm calling fake. The paint on the crest isn't supposed to extend down to the bridge of the nose. This looks suspiciously like the one ST found a while back and returned to Japan. Maybe he can re-post the photos for a comparison.
Yes, the early MHs do have that card in the bag. I have the MH02 and the colour of the one in the pics above are indeed quite off. I remembered back then when this "bootleg" surfaced, Mori saw the pics and did say it is "not original". However at that time, it was at the height of RxH popularity and any GID MH was highly coveted and highly priced. So it is also strange that someone would strip a GID MH or paint up an unpainted GID to make this boot. Also the old headers are difficult to come by itself. Leaving the MH alone would already guarantee a good price back then. Besides anyone in Japan who bothered to boot this and intended to cash in on rxh back then would know something about rxh. hence the person should know how the MH02 looks and feels like. Colours aside, the spray does have the old school rxh feel on it. i think the best is whoever has this MH now to keep it in the original bag and bring it to mori to let him see in person. it could be a NG piece or gift or whatever that has been forgotten.
GID base MHs weren't that uncommon at the time. Kozik's run of Pickle RxH created a fair supply of GID RxH that could be stripped and repurposed. I'm sure there were also a few that remained unpainted. When ST originally bought the MH from eBay- loose- the story was that the seller had purchased it from a Mandarake. Only after ST returned the toy to the seller did it begin circulating again on YJA, and this time bagged with the old-style header. You can read the original posts here: http://www.skullbrain.org/bb/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=24785&start=0 I've always wondered whether the first seller was telling the truth, or whether it's the same guy selling the same fake toy over and over. Either way, it's crazy that this thing keeps popping up. M- What happened to your MH's hand? Do you have a cat?
sad to see collectors are being ripped off with bootlegs again. back then it was old balance toyshop from hong kong selling it. if they were telling the truth they would have probably returned it to mandarake rather than selling it again. curious as well. is it the same seller again? here is the link of the auction: http://page16.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/u37921087
Hope this person doesn't read this thread. They will just fix the things that you are mentioning and try to sell it again.
