Re-edited the preview video into a quicker 3 minute package.. sped up the footage and added more toys as well!
Enjoyed the video, and cute tune too! Sorry for my ignorance, but what are those Elegab-like toys at 1:21? The turntable is perfect for cyclops at 2:07. You should consider marketing your "toy carousel", some toys would really benefit from the merr-Go-Round display p.s. reminds me of those giant wooden spinning discs at SF Playland, each kid clinging on for dear life, hoping to be the last one sitting on the disc--spinning at a rate much faster than today's sense for liability (yes, i was born in the pre-cambrian age , some things were much funner back in the day, compared to today's digital age--you could actually break an arm and have fun doing so!)
The turntable was the best $30 I've spent lately - such a great way to show off toys! Can't wait to film my personal collection after we are done with the SVM stuff. The Elegab-like toys are Fumetsu by SB's very own @CopASquatToys ! These ones aare on aurora glitter vinyl - real beauties! PS the music is by I Am a Robot and Proud - real chilled out video game style music from Canada
Oh that is a one-off by Elegab. If I can remember correctly everything in the video is painted by the creator.
That is so unusual of his style. Nari-san ventures into new territories here. Interesting. I've always wanted him to do wilder paints, and this is quite wild !
Seeing photos of all these toys in one place seriously makes me want to take a trip back down to Monster Kolor or FOE just to oogle their shelves of plastic gold. Gawd DAYUM.
@badteethcomics Thank you for all of the info Glenn! Good luck with the show, lots of eye candy just looking at the preview! Can you please post more photos of the event for us Americans? It's a shame you can't run a "virtual show" broadcast, some toy stores are taking advantage of this, and it would be great fun to see your event on opening day! p.s. that catchy tune has been replaying in my brain! Thanks for the music info!
That's pretty interesting! Are places like TAG doing these broadcasts? I know it would screw up my monthly data allowance trying to do something like that. We have arranged for a video crew to film the opening night - they should have something edited together soon after the event. We will be taking lots of photos as well
^^^Glenn, the live coverage wasn't anything fancy. You can just mount a video camera up high, and then once in a while take it off the mount and walk around with it, and/or stroll by with a tasty toy to taunt the audience. Giant Robot did this on their very first Uglycon so that the Ugly fans could see what was going on and what the show was like. It was really fun. GR still does live broadcasts of some of their events. Other art venues do pretty much the same thing (ceramic demos and shows). I don't think it's too expensive, but it is fun p.s. a sweet boardie just informed me that bandwidth in Australia is very expensive (Telestra market share monopoly ) p.p.s. The Uglycon camera even captured a marriage proposal (c'mon, say, "awwwwwww!" )
Hmm I'll see what we can do - I might even just set up a small camera to do a time lapse for the night? We have updated the website ( http://softvinylmayhem.com ) and announced a secret artist on instagram with a few images. It was pretty difficult to keep this one a secret.. I could count on one hand the amount of people who knew about this since we first planned it. NNN invades SVM2! (* this Nag is an older release - we haven't seen what is being prepared for the show yet)
While I'm not a fan of Naggies (no offense to the artist!), the black version with that texture, reminds me of mafic basaltic lumps of congealed lava (that's a compliment, by the way!) -- nice effect.
Yeah this new sculpt is beautiful.. this time next week I should have photos of the Nags for the event. Speaking of photos.. Gargamel have some very fancy customs lined up for the show (7 in total) here's a sneak peek. There is another image on the softvinylmayhem instagram
@hellointerloper, he's one of the new Max Toy Gachas. There's a heap load of characters and it seems like there's even more on the way. I like that version a lot too, Maddie. Edit: That whole little bundle are MTGs. There are more tho.
Thanks for the quick answer, JP! And wow, seems like Max Toy is stepping their game up! I've only been mildly interested in their stuff up until now, but between this gorilla and the cyclops birdguy MTG I saw elsewhere, I suddenly am REALLY interested...
Couple of photos from tonight's preview event.. Got got special signage installed a couple of hours before we opened!
