Another reason why Twitter matters: "Forget CNN or any of the major American "news" networks. If you want to get the latest on the opposition protests in Iran, you should be reading blogs, watching YouTube or following Twitter updates from Tehran, minute-by-minute. Some absolutely riveting and thrilling reporting has been done over Twitter by a university student in Tehran who goes by the moniker Tehran Bureau. http://twitter.com/tehranbureau
Hm, first person to be physically assaulted as a result of his activity on Twitter? http://www.dailykos.com/story/2009/6/18 ... ing-proxys.
Now that I've been using Twitter for a bit(ter), a complaint: why are they so damn slow in updating the RSS? For testing purposes, I have an additional "listener" account that follows the account that I'm responsible for managing. The "listener" is linked to my cell phone. When I post a message to the account I manage, I get a notification (via the "listener" account) on my cell phone within seconds, but when viewing the same account through my RSS reader, I don't get an update for a couple of hours. Why? Do they deliberately delay propagating the RSS feeds so people have an incentive to link their accounts to their cell phones? (I can imagine that they can make a lot of money selling databases of those cell numbers to direct marketers, etc.)
I LURVE TWITTER!!! But can someone who's been in a committed relationship with Twitter longer than I have 'splain the RSS thing? It eats away at my soul.
