I've been watching some of the swimming and gymnastics. Some of the preliminary rings work is insane. I usually don't care about televised sports but the Olympics are so cool.
I watched all night last night starting from the opening ceremonies(wow that was amazing! specially those 2008 drummers and that led screen *drool* ) Mostly wanted to see Ryoko Tani try for her 3rd Judo gold(5th olympic medal)..but she lost to that Romanian chick She did end up with the bronze though which was cool. The mens 60kg winner from S Korea was Amazing! He won all matches with Ippon! For anyone who doesn't know...there is a lot of live feed content online (as opposed to just the major stuff during primetime on TV) http://www.nbcolympics.com/video/index.html For those who are not in the states...the online content is country limited...so just use a proxy server Here is a good event tracker http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2008/08/05/sports/olympics/2008_OLYMPICS_TRACKER.html?hp
so far...only watched the parts of the opening ceremony...which was spectacular, especially the drummers. waiting to watch the USA basketball game tommorow
I'm a fan of Olympic history and I like knowing who wins what, but DAMN I can't watch that crap. Except the Steeple Chase, how ridiculous, I love it.
watched some men's gymnastics last night, and you're right China is going to be hard to beat. also caught some swimming and also a volleyball matchup last night on one of the HD channels. i saw a highlight of the women's fencing as well...the US took all three medals. the girl who won the bronze just got out of high school! I really want to learn more about this sport now....
Anyone catch this? http://news.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid ... 09/2231231 (I'd post my "olympics are bullshit" rant again but I don't want to repeat myself. ;p) Also: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=23534
Watching USA vs. China basketball online now. Have to watch it at a very small screen size, but it's cool. Kind of weird stadium, though. Just heard Vivaldi being played during a time out! Lots of stuffs, blocks, and steals so far. Looks like China's total lack of transitional d is going to do them in...
Fast paced game and I just caught the tail end of the game. I'm kind of interested in seeing how far the us can get. The euro leagues are so good now.
On a side note, my husband just talked me into getting an LCD-HDTV. Watching the Olympics on this thing is amazing. The clarity is astonishing. It makes it even harder for me to ever turn it off.
You might be able to see this link (won't work in the USA, but outside) http://www.youtube.com/beijing2008 For sure Australia and the UK have Live streams but they are also country limited. If you dabble with P2P(I don't so, can't help but), I'm sure you can find someone who is serving up the olympic feeds. Or use a decent/fast proxy server to view the streams.
steroid monsters vs. skinny chinese ...unfair from the beginning. only watched second half, u.s. played very well - will be hard to beat em this time. great transition game, coaches seem to do a good job. like to watch as much olympics as i can...
The opening ceremonies blew my mind in HD. Even got choked up during a couple parts. Looking forward to... Table Tennis! Don't think it'll make the main NBC cast but it should pop up on a sister network hopefully.
Steroids is Baseball man, get your US Sports + Drugs right! NBA is all spousal abuse and gambling, sheesh!
