It's been a long, long time coming but looks like MW is producing a Mr Satan toy for Coop - looks great, can't wait to see it assembled. Got me thinking about the old kaiju sketches from a couple of years back that were supposed to be concepts for a toy project as well.. Anybody hear anything about these?

While I greatly admire Coop's artwork, I can't really get into this one. Not that it's at all bad, looks bad, or translated badly. Quite the contrary, in fact. Just reminds me too much of Muttpop's Red Demon figure, or something I'd find in Spencer's Gifts. After these start to come out in painted versions, it would probably stand up next to a Rat Fink by Dune pretty nicely. Reminds me of the Quakula figure.
Anyone know what happened to the Super7 x Coop collaboration toy? It was a bad ass giant robot of some sort.
You mean this tall drink of awesome From what I remember something about it couldn't be pulled correctly or didn't transfer from the sculpt to the mold so it got shelved. I could be wrong though... in no way am I claiming to be the authority on El Diablo.
I actually bought this sketch from Coop. They were doing a babytattooville traveling art show a couple years back and I saw it in his book he told me his was collaborating with Elegab on making this guy into a real thing. I got super excited snatched up the sketch and then nothing ever came of it. Makes the sketch a bit bittersweet.
Amazing that you said that - all of those kaiju sketches in his book totally reminded me of Elegab!! I almost suggested Elegab as a possible sculptor in the post above but I didn't want to suggest the similarity.. Congrats on scoring the sketch!
Matters of taste aside, you gotta admire that right arm as a nifty feat of vinyl planning and pulling.
