Good call. Sure seems like we’ll also see a mibora in this color way. That’s be a sweet pairing with the Bako
Isn’t that the normal spread though? 4/5 are not painted and 1/5 are painted. Typically it’s the larger figure that is painted. looking forward to seeing more bags!
Just to be clear, we WILL be getting Lucky bags this year. However, we will NOT be getting Lucy bags... whatever those are
This is my third year in a row when I stopped buying them, and I've come to accept that, even as an avid Gargamel collector, the bags just aren't for me. Not as long as they remain to be almost all blank bags with no tiers. And that's fine, not everyone has to love everything. I was able to get that blue painted Deathra with guts for like $100 through Angel Abby and that seemed like a way better value for my money (even after the extra $50 for shipping because of HK wonky issues). Although I heard they won't ship til summer.
I grabbed a bag a few years ago—my first and last time. Just a lot of blanks. Not much variety. I know people love them, but I feel that they were better years ago. Plus with Gargamel producing a lot more regularly back then, getting blanks were sometimes fun to add to so many painted releases they were doing. Now watch this year’s bag be insane.
Aside from that AA release (which I can't believe I missed out on) the lucky bags are my only consistent chance to get a Gargamel figure at a reasonable price. I hope there will be more releases similar to the AA but it's been a LOOONG time since that's happened, especially when it comes to the standard size figures. I've gotten lucky with the Gargamel Gallery releases but those prices are frequently punching above the top of my budget. I think I've only been getting the LBs for about 5 years so the one offs were before my time. Personally, I would much rather ggml keep the price point in the $300 range with one painted piece than raise the price and have multiple painted figures. There's 9 distributors listed on their site and at least one more not listed that I'm aware. That's approximately 100 lucky bags with some pretty great painted variety included in the bags. That's a fair amount of work at a very reasonable price. Also, I don't mind the unpainted figures. Those are the one that I like to actually "play" with, mash them up by swapping pieces and feel fine about letting my kids mess with them. I TOTALLY get that these bags are not for everyone but the build up to them and the excitement from the first reveal to the last is one of my favorite times of the year and I'm very grateful each year it continues.
The only one off I ever scored I trade it for a zodiac figure. Dumb choice but so much fun. I’m out this year. Super broke with all the things happening but super glad this thread exists to come ogle over toys
I think the LBs were more varied maybe 10 years ago, but their contents differed so much from year to year that I was always hesitant to pick one up. It was almost better to see what showed up and then pick through them on the aftermarket. Sure there was a small chance of getting a one-off or unique blank, but there was a much, much better chance of a bag mix that you didn't like (remember the Conifas years). I remember that the collaborative sculpts were being used pretty heavily for a few years, and I wasn't into all of them. I like the current LB system that keeps it to the Gargamel sculpts and essentially debuts a new one each year. They also mix it up with some 'uncommon' inserts and the occasional Miborah/Mecha Miborah head. Good balance of random chance vs. a guarantee that the bag will have something appealing for Gargamel collectors of all ages.
Saw these Saturday on someone's IG stories. 1 is a bad screencap from a video so it's barely a spoiler. Spoiler I want that red zag, and hope we see a painted version.
Naming of the new sculpt and a future spoiler from the wizard himself in Japan: Spoiler Yes, new head name is Tetoran α. Old head of one eye is Tetoran β. I’ll make new head of three eyes next.
