These guys kick ass. I nabbed the Baltan Bellum at release and blessedly had a friend with the OG black who was kind enough to hook me up. Can't remember if I posted this already, but here's a photo I took on arriving in DC:

Shaman is all kinds of neat, but the first releases didn't do it for me. Holding out for the right paint.

On reflection it's obvious why these clicked so hard for me: Naoya's sculpting style gives the toys a super clean silhouette, makes them look very cute and playable immediately. You can see the similarity in style between these and Bwana's New Suns toys, also Naoya sculpts, which have really taken off. I hope these do staggeringly well, and that we see many more in future.

Word on the street is we will have some new Quackula for Gamjam! I'm not sure how many or what color though.

Trickery. I heated the Bellum up with a hair dryer and put a real squeaky toy between my hip and the table. I leaned into the squeaky toy in time with pushing down on the figure.

There is no length I will not go to for a joke, but now Mr. Healey is telling me I will be hearing from his lawyers. It was worth it.

Feeling lucky for sure. I'm glad he's open to a preorder so folks can keep up with the set.

I imagine the alt head Bellum is next for painted releases (bad news for me, I will need to sell one of mine), then I'm hoping for a droid.

Not a big Star Wars guy, and I wouldn't collect stuff from the IP otherwise, but these are so perfect.

First release shipped fast as hell! I received my Greedo yesterday and opened just now.

    Impressions off the cuff:
    • Black staples to match the header card! Very cool. Of course I threw them out anyway, but made me happy
    • This one turned out less glossy than Healey's previous Star Wars figures, and feels a bit less like your typical sofubi as a result
    • One joint, at the waist--from photos I thought we might get a neck joint, but I'm not sure if it would work anyway
    • Detail is quality and thoughtfully-applied--the full head texture is there, with some sculpted creases and panels on the clothing
    • Overall design feels more bootleg/mismatched than the earlier Bellum/Shaman--those felt like whole reimaginings of Star Wars characters, while Greedo is more of a mashup wrestling figure. I think the intent was to translate Healey's work in the 3.75" format to sofubi pretty much as-is, and it's perfect in that regard

Regarding the two piece construction, that aspect alone makes Ikeda-san's sculpt doubly impressive to me.

Indeed! Thoughtful... that upper half is quite an impressive array of shapes and angles to successfully pack into one pull.
