Actually, I wouldn't mind this being a good thread to compare prices, and to determine a decent selling price for some things.

    If that doesn't already exist.

I think g63 is just asking what the "retail" price is...?

I don't think this is a stupid question at all. I'm assuming he was just asking what they cost at retail, seeing as how obtaining toys like this at retail pricing seems like a myth at this point. I'm not sure what the Gorilla-Ju fetch for, but I think the actual retail price originally set for the 2-headed monster was roughly 18,000Y or est. $235.00 USD. This is the starting price of every official auction. I also remember coming across a small Japanese web store that sold them for the same price (if I remember correctly). Funny how now you won't find one for less than $1,000.00 USD, and a little fishy if you ask me. BEMON doesn't put up a whole release of any single 2-headed monster, I'd say he'll put up no more than 4-5 models for auction. What happens to the remaining 15-25? I'm curious if these are sold via private sales. I'm sure someone here might know. Personally, I'm stumped.

The 2-Head Bemon original prices look to range from 15,000 yen to 18,000 yen.
2-Head Bemon (10th release). Limited edition of 30. Each one individually numbered. Bemon offically had the first 8 for auction on YJA. Mandarake also had a lotto for sale when these were released in May 2011. They were charging 15,000 yen (15,750 w/tax) if you won.

Mandarake also offered as a lotto the 11th release starting at 18,000 yen (plus tax). Also sold as a auction directly from Bemon.

Someone pointed out a mistake I made when I stated these were selling prices from Mandarake. These are prices being asked by Mandarake to purchase these items, not sell them!

The Gorilla-ju prices started off at 9,000 yen and are regularly 10,000 yen now. All the Mecha Gorilla-ju currently have been 12,000 yen.

These are prices that Mandarake are willing to pay for Gorilla-ju and Mecha Gorilla Ju.

I'm curious and want to know how much cost a Goga
for the chosen people of the list.
I would also like to know its number of runs.

Wow, was not aware there was a lottery held by Mandarake.

I'm sure a Gogamejira runs less than 20,000Y at retail, my guess would be around 15,000Y. Very few toys run for more than 20,000Y, regardless of the run size, unless a lot of work is put into the release (NagNagNag's recent zombie would be a good example priced at $350.00 at retail).

I would say most figures by Anraku Ansaku range from 10-30 pieces.

If the question at hand is merely asking our opinion of what seems to be a fair price, at retail, I would say they should cost no less than the amount it takes to make the figures, plus the time it takes for the artist to paint the figures, and maybe a little more on top of that (there's nothing wrong with the artist making a little profit, this is business).

When these toys make it into the aftermarket, the artist doesn't have complete control of what people choose to do, however, their method of sales can and does indeed influence pricing. If toys are sold only via lottery in small runs, sold to a closed mailing list, etc. you can bet your ass they're going to sell for a lot more than a run of 100 figures that were sold through a wide variety of retailers. Of course, the demand and the size of the fan base for a particular artist or figure also plays a role. Sometimes all it takes is a single auction which screams "shill bidding" to influence people to believe that these toys are actually worth thousands of dollars.

    I'm sure that's incorrect.

The number of figures is usually not given, unless it's a "limited" offering. Most "limited" runs are between 1-8 pieces (10 in one case that I know of). Regular run numbers are not given.

I don't see what's so wrong about asking the price of something at it's retail price and not it's secondary market price. Learn to read/understand what people are saying/asking.

I don't understand why people assume that because a past release of a figure was able to fetch allot of $$$, that every new release/colorway should also fetch the same amount.

The 2 headed Bemons are perfect examples of this CRAZY practice.

I'm just taking guesses based on what seems logical in our current market. I found an old thread with one member who claims he bought two at retail for $75.00 + shipping a piece, and another who was offered one by another board member for as low as $200.00 (which would have to be no less than retail as I doubt anyone would pass these out at any sort of discount):

    http://67.23.33.184/bb/viewtopic.php?f= ... &view=next

If these reports are accurate, then I must have overshot my original estimate. If accurate, I'm also highly amused at how ridiculous the aftermarket prices have become for these figures. I wouldn't doubt that retail prices may have gone up since then, but I wouldn't guess they've increased by such a significant amount to justify the aftermarket value of Anraku Ansaku's work. I'm sure people who score these at retail and attempt to sell them here or elsewhere would prefer we continue to believe they paid a lot more.

As far as the regular run numbers, I'm only going by what a reliable source has given me. My estimate between 10-30 was nothing more than an estimate. I am aware solid numbers aren't typically given.

in gomora's defense, I dont think he is fluent in english because his posts dont always make sense and he sometimes doesnt understand what people on here are trying to tell him. The language is obviously a barrier so try to be a little more considerate.

I think it's a great idea for a thread, but would prefer if prices were known for sure. There is a lot of secrecy involved with certain toys. Letting people know the retail on these toys will help educate others and might keep people from buying something that is flipped for a crazy price. It's not like you're giving out the secrets on how/where/when to buy them, it's simply some good information.

Also if no one has mentioned the Mecha Gorilla, they are 12,000 yen + shipping.
