I always wanted a Hutch when I was a kid  Does anyone remember (sp?) Kuahara?

Nice thread! I've been saving up for some new wheels and this is getting me psyched!

Kuwahara were the Rolls Royce of BMX over her in the UK . . . I always liked the look of the ET special edition but I don't think they ever got imported . . . definitely more show than go!

I'm big on bikes also. Good for exercise, great for the environment, and all around fun! Lately it's been painful riding my 70's Huffy Safari cruiser though. As much as I love the esthetic, and great disdain for "new looking cruisers", the thing is falling apart. I've basically need a new hub and have rigged the gear shifter with electrical tape to prevent gear slipping. This make a crazy metal clanking sound when I pedal though, so i need a new bike.

So I've convinced myself that a NEW bike is needed. Enter solution: Raleigh Classic Roadster. New bike that looks like it's from the 70's. Too lazy to post a pic but I can't wait till I can save for one.

Here's my surly Monstreroller. There's some lowrise risers in there somewhere, and my custom brooks B 17 special (I cut off the hangy parts on the sides) nothing else too special.

Is it an optical illusion due to the deep V, or is that a 700 in the back and 26" up front?

it's a 650 up front so I can pretend to do tricks. I like to ride with it most of the time because it's lighter than my 700 front wheel.

I've been cycling for over as long as I can remember. I guess I've become one of those "fixed-gear kids", but I don't see how considering I'm 32. I also put on a yearly alleycat race in St. Petersburg, FL. It's become the largest alleycat race in the SouthEast with over 200 in attendance each year. You can see this past April's flier here: http://horroh.com/alleycat and some pics from the event here: http://www.mikeweimar.com/fixed_fight_4/

Riding fixed the last 6 years or so has really re-sparked the fun I had as a little kid riding BMX. Anyway, I'm down to only a couple bikes these days. This is my everyday bike, true love!

How fast can you slow down on a fixed wheel bike?

I can stop pretty damn quick. Been riding in NYC for about 6 years and I've never gotten into an accident or hit anyone.

I love my g/f so much!!! She surprised me today with a brand new raleigh classic roadster bike exactly this color:

    http://www.rei.com/product/804565

She was tricky, she phoned me to come downstairs and help her bring in some groceries and there she was with the bike and a big bow on it. I guess she was tired of hearing me moan about my old 70's huffy falling apart (the seat broke 3 weeks ago). I'm almost sad we're going on vacation because I want to ride it till I'm completely exhausted.

A picture of my "MoonCruiser" from a few years back. I've still got it - just no time to ride.
