Exactly! I know they only go in a circle, with a radius of 3 feet.... but____ I _____don't_____care. How cool would it be to ride in one of those mechas? Closest we'd ever get to the real thing, for any normal person, and as a kid it as good as.

Absolutely love it! The fact that they used actual Akira Ifukube melodies for the Godzilla ride is priceless. Shit...I really need to get my Grendizer kiddie ride working someday...

Haha, the last thing I need is more things to look at to make me feel hungry and thirsty! Now I am imagining a whole book of kaiju and kamen kocktails.

Crazy good stuff there Moog. I am not sure if those diecasts were issued similarly by companies in other countries (maybe that is what it says under each flag?) but I am sure I had a few of those planes that seemed identical; well before they were involved in all-out conflicts, and many summers of being buried in the sandbox.

I had no idea the Matchbox Robotech line was so extensive, I love learning things like this. I would have been so stoked to play with those vehicles and playsets.

Oh man that Gattiger ad... I used to watch that and I always dreamed of owning that beauty. Then around 10 years later in the mid 80s, a friend from Texas was visiting my folks and he was a massive collector. One day he was showing some stuff that he had bought in J-Town here in San Francisco and to my surprise he had a Gattiger End Machine. I was shocked! I asked him where he got it and he told me about a store in the Japantown center that had a few of them. I went the next day and all they had were a few End Machines. I asked the guy at the counter if he had any of the other cars and he went to the back room and said "Sorry, I don't have anymore of the other individual cars. I do have this though!" and he pulled out the big Gattiger set mint in box! I bought that thing immediately, fulfilling my childhood dreams.

I still have that beauty to this day!

Always the great stuff here. Had no idea that matchbox had such a better variety in Japan. And I am really hungry.
