    You have no taste!
Just for shits and giggles . . . who's 'They'?
Paint app's so fucked up I didn't even realise it was a Gorilla! . . . although the HxS omake rip-off should've given the game away!

There is only one man that should be making gorilla's and gorilla derivatives . . . all the others are just nut-swingers!

    Sure...
I think it's the other way around, pal. It doesn't look bad at all.

So you've entered the lottery to 'win' the chance to buy one?

    Maybe...
I honestly wouldn't mind owning this thing. If you look at their IG you can see this guy isn't just slapping paint on his toys (like a lot of the other so called artists). He and his team are skilled painters and i honestly think they have a lot of talent.

They make the sound of a wet helicopter. The more you know!

I don't see what's so funny about this. Pretty standard practice, which I know you're highly aware of, especially from the "one man that should be making gorillas". God forbid this dude enters a lotto for something he legitimately enjoys. The horror. THE HORROR.

Someone making a toy of their own cat simply because they love their cat is pretty great.
Hiring someone skilled to help get it sculpted so it doesn't look like it was made by a pre-schooler between naps is pretty great.
Molding and casting it himself to make resin copies for paint is pretty great.
Painting it to look exactly like his own cat because he loves his cat so much is pretty great.
Anytime someone makes a toy just because they want it rather than trying to make what they think everyone else wants is pretty great.

Point missed! Not questioning the practice . . . just curious if @EastEndFrontier 'liked' it to the tune of $300!

@Anti Social Andy Obviously he does if he entered the lotto. Mystery solved. You're not shitting on people that rock those price tags for Hirota, because you collect Hirota.

All of you actually seeing a gorilla are way ahead of me.

Oh c'mon, now you're comparing fresh apples to moldy oranges. And iirc even the Itamu were not $300, last King Ju w/omake & pin cost about $180... So yeah, still artificial hype-mongering overpriced Chinese crap.

    'Maybe' was inconclusive!

So scream you, out from behind the bitter ache
Heavy on the memory, you need most
Still want love, ugly, smooth and delicate
    Not without affection, not alone

@bunnyboy Those might've been the OG prices, but that's not what they are now, and that's what I'm gauging the comparison on. I don't collect HxS, nor do I have any desire to, so perhaps my example is out place.

My point is, you wanna shit on the toys and the makers, what the fuck ever. We all have those gripes and complaints that usually create a dialogue. But I'm getting more annoyed by collectors personally getting cried at for what they choose to collect 'cause it's not someone's taste. That's like making fun of someone for the music they choose to listen to.

While I could never afford to (and wouldn't want to) pay those aftermarket prices, there are reasons that Bemon, Anraku, Nag & HxS used to fetch +1k. An unknown Chinese maker being greedy right out of the gate while not even having to show anything for it except lack of inspiration, shitty airbrush skills and "LIMITED TO 18!!! $300" is an entirely different thing imo.

@bunnyboy Oh, I'm not at all contesting that point whatsoever, and highly, highly agree. My comparison was restricted only to the price points, and not at all speaking to the quality! Well, some would say "quality".

He can laugh or cry all he wants, IDGAF. I'm sure i'll laughcry at some of the things he collects (whatever that is).

I guess so. That has become a pretty standard price for toys that size in todays market. I recently won a lottery for a toy wich was around the same price. Maybe i like that toy a little more, but $300 is not that crazy to pay for this one.

    My wife does . . . mostly it's crying though! ;)

I'm still mentally trapped in the good old days of $20 minis, $50 fight size and $100 standards.

$300 retail for something with zero history, credibility or creative flair has me scratching my head but with runs of 10-20 I guess it needs to be priced that high to recoup anything before the bubble bursts . . . and it doesn't take many collectors to jump for it to 'sell-out' and look like a big success.

I don't know, i just buy what i like. I'm sure they'll do fine without your support. ;)

Amen to this. Every now and then, something truly special comes along that warrants more $$$ , but the main reason there is this current tsunami of $300 toys is people are indescribably buying them like sharks in a feeding frenzy. Chew your food, children.
