Got these 2 beautiful sofubi kits directly from it's sculptor Izumi Takabe about a week or 2 ago.


Also received a beautiful clear rainbow color Shikaruna Kobo Marine Kong a few days ago from a awesome board member. Thanks Tom! I'll have to take a photo soon.

 

The new Boogie I got from Lulu looks like it's made form Jolly Ranchers, which, being another rarity in the UK, makes it extra-special. Really happy with my parts mix, too.

Here is the Marine Kong I received a few days ago.

 

Man, the paints on that Marine Kong are out of this world Chimply. The blue accents on the head are perfect. Nice pickup.

 

Definitely the tastiest clear Marine Kong I've seen... nice, man!

I was soooo tempted to get one I saw on ebay recently, but at $250 I just couldn't do it for this one.

Granted, with as few of those that ever pop up, prices like that have probably become average for this toy and may be the only hope of getting one...

Still, I can hold out. Thank Goodness for the S7 x SB aliens.

 

You and me both. Marmit's ALIEN line and vintage Gatchaman toys are all I really chase down or go out of my way to buy now. The scale (bigger than you'd expect) and aesthetic of the Nostromo crew are just too good. I recall the inspiration for one of Marmit's toy lines (either Monster Heaven or Vinyl Paradise) being to have big chunky toys with an old-tooling look and feel to them, to remind collectors of being a small child with a bulky toy in hand. These really do that for me. Thanks to the term "alien" being such a commonplace word in Japanese toy auctions, I have always had pretty shit luck tracking them down on YJA, and even when found I never win the auction.

I remember passing the Marmit ALIEN toys up years and years ago when they were only $100-120 range, before they all disappeared. I was sure I could hold out hope and find some regretful buyer selling for retail or less, but it never happened (who can blame em?). When Dave ebay'd this one I messaged him and had to take it
