Whatever happened to StrangeCo?

Anyone know what caused the demise of this company? They had a lineup of well-known artists (Jim Woodring, Luke Chueh, Shephard Fairey, Tokidoki etc.) and their toys all seemed well-made. Mr Bumper in particular is pretty damn exquisite. Was there a specific event or did they get sucked into the black hole of the 2008 recession?

Always wondered this myself.. seems like the shittiest toys floated to the top back then (KR and Funko) while quality products like StrangeCo and Toy2r disappeared

These guys folded some time ago. Still have my Woodring stuff and the Tree Dweller. OK - scorn me for not being pure...

It was sad to see 'em go but $25 BxH x James Jarvis King Kuns in the fire sale before they shut up shop were one of collecting's little victories!

StrangeCo was a great company with good people. We had some glorious plans together before they folded. I could best describe the downfall as this. Moving too slow to adapt, a few misfires, and maybe too many cooks in the kitchen. They sorta pushed themselves out of what was already a pretty squeezed up market.

Thanks for the perspective, Bwana. Do you know what Jim Crawford is up to these days?

I've run into him a few times. I think he was doing something else, but still in the industry a little while back. Haven't seen him in a couple years though. I like Jim.
