Ahh...I never knew Eyehategod was from New Orleans, that explains why they were always playing shows in my hometown Pensacola FL.
i likes me all kinds of metal. grunts, screams, sludge, sing songy...theres something good in every catagory. BOOM!
Yes! Haha...it's a small world! I used to watch Stanton rip our local YMCA halfpipe. For a little while, one of my close friends growing up played drums for his band The Causey Way. I didn't really know Scott Stanton as well as I knew his carzy brother Kent though. As for Cowgill, he was one of those guys in Pensacola that everyone knew. I would run into him at Sluggo's and the Handlebar all the time.
Nah, I wanted to go for sympathy points by just mentioning Saxon. I liked Maiden too, and had a giant number of the beast promo cut out of Eddie above my bed, and a bootleg Killers sweat shirt I got for a fiver. Nostalgia. I really loved KISS tho, and was villified in my metal circles for this, as KISS wore makeup, and therefore must all be "poofs" (read: gay)
Kiss aren't poofs, cos they did the tour without make-up. Plus 99% of black metal bands wear make-up and they're not poofs (or they're not telling). Do you still do any stuff for Terrorizer Chad?
I wrote for Terrorizer in 1996 thru 1997... Horseshoe, if you were hanging out in the P-cola punk scene between 1984 and 1988, I might have met you. I use to go to P-cola to skate and see shows.
WHen I was at school Black Metal was just in its infancy. Venom had relesaed Black Metal, but no one really referred to it as such. Bands who wore make-up were categorized as gender bending glamsters. The kids at school hadn't cottoned onto the fact that it took balls to dress that way, regardless of whether u were gay or straight.
