I recently put a Himalan up for sale on the board. It was passed on, so I took it down, but the more I study it, the curiouser and curiouser it becomes. It's signed 2001 with a drawing and both his names, the way he usually signs his sculpts. Before I got this item, I didn't even know they were being produced that early. Also, the five black areas on the face appear to have been painted in black with the same ink as on the back, so the run was either pure orange vinyl or it's a prototype. The bottom has "One up" on the left foot and "Itokin Park" on the left. Does anyone know anything about this edition? Which was the earliest edition of the Himalan? When was it run and what colorway was it? IMG_0886 by zwrdl, on Flickr IMG_0887 by zwrdl, on Flickr
I think it is 2009, not 2001. To answer your other question: http://www.vinylpulse.com/2007/11/one-up-design-f.html I've seen a blank red-orange Himalayan before in Zinc's collection, but I don't recall the release details. It may have been a gift given out at the show (see below). It looks like the unpainted version of this one: http://www.vinylpulse.com/2009/02/itokin-park-super-7-featuring-himalan-exclusive.html
Makes sense it would be 2009, since February 28, 2009 was the date of the show. It would be way too far-fetched that an unpainted figure of the same color as the show exclusive would be signed on 2/28 of 2001 --especially since the first one dropped in 2007! I guess that little dot above the "1" really changes it into a "9." Thanks, guys. ~Z
The black is just Sharpie or something similar. I have a blank gid Himalan that has some silver Sharpie on it. It's got nipples, earrings, and the nails (both finger and toes) are all silver. Someone has a pic of it somewhere... Here's the painted Tomato Himalan
Trick of light and angle of camera: because of the way the line of the arm melds with the "hair," it extends the arms to resemble the back legs of a sheep being worn on a head which is in turn peeking out from a walking toilet bowl or bathtub. Sorry man, but that's what popped into me head. (pun there, if you care to look for it)
It is an unpainted blank from the Super7 Himalan. The follwing year, Itokin had a custom show at Super7 on 2.28 and Itokin doodled on an unpainted blank that someone had brought. It's a neat little gift. If you really don't want it, I will pick it up from you.
Hi Brian, Since nobody wanted it here on the forum, I put it up on the Bay. It's item 171011471269 Cheers, ~Z
