Ok, day one on the board and I did several searches first... is there a checklist for RxH or a good resource? Also, any good stores in Japan that accept PayPal... have dealt with Mandarake... easy process... any others? Thanks all.
ever been to a 12 step meeting? stand the fuck up introduce yourself and tell us what you are addicted to and maybe just maybe when we all go outside to smoke someone will let you in on some secrets
Addicted to RxH and Grody. New to scene... mostly into mutant evils... have a LASH custom and some others. Smoke a pack a day but not around the blessed toys.
Start with the Mook. Not sure how you missed this thread either. viewtopic.php?f=3&t=26941 But no checklist.
I don't remember if these are pages from the Mook or something else. I've had them bookmarked for a while now. RxH1 RxH2
those 2 pics are not from the mook, but for the most part those 2 pics contain all the toys you will find in the mook, just a bit more cluttered of pics
In case the OP doesn't know, "the mook" (magazine-book) is this: http://www.amazon.com/Super-Internation ... 097966781X RxH production exploded once Shinto Gangu opened ... that was after the mook's release so what's there is "early" RxH. Still worth having to get a sense of where the brand started and how it's evolved. More generally if you can track down old copies of Super7 magazine, there are excellent introductions to numerous sofubi/neo-kaiju brands that include photo catalogues.
Welcome aboard. Those pics are from Kai-zine as are these. 2007-2008 Real x Head Catalog (Kai-Zine) by chimply kaiju 2007-2008 Real x Head Catalog (Kai-Zine) by chimply kaiju Also this book has several pages of RxH An Encyclopedia of Kaiju SC Book (dust jacket) by chimply kaiju
^ not to nitpick, but you have "akro kaisers" labeled as "aero kisers." regardless, thanks for sharing those great kaizine scans! can't believe how much has changed in just a few, short years. r.i.p. kaiju-taro edit: "aero" -> "acro"?
Thanks. I just went with the english spelling of Aero Kiser that was printed on that catalog at the time vs the header card spelling.
Nearly all new RxH figures since 2010 have been sold as small runs only available in-person at Shinto Gangu or Real Headz in Japan. Most of these figures use the old-style hand spray look, as opposed to the 2008-10 releases, which made heavy use of paint masks and washes. In addition, Mori had been giving out not-for-sale gift figures to friends/family for a couple years prior. This is an example of (what I believe is) a gift figure... bagged, but never sold to the public. Due to these two distribution methods, it's pretty hard to put together a comprehensive checklist as you move toward 2009 and beyond.
It's a vain hope, but I'd love to see a full catalog of the newer big figures... Chaosman, Chaos Trooper, etc etc. Sigh.
Some photos I just took from the book I mention. There are a few more pages of RxH in the book that I didn't take. Sorry for the bad pics. It's night and the lighting sucks.
I wonder if Mori keeps a database or some sort of notation of everything he's done? The man must work like a fiend.
Good choice For this, I will try to document most of the Mutant Evils one day. I think you chose the best time to be picking up old rxh fights!
Great thread, benefitting from new info been lurking for a bit round these parts and loving RxH since the start. In the year or so I've been collecting kaiju RxH has stood out like few others. Thanks for all the links
Joe made a database for a lot of the minis a while ago: http://www.flickr.com/photos/fiendsaintfamily/sets/72157605866128878/ other boardies have great sets on flickr of just RxH: http://www.flickr.com/photos/25036013@N03/sets/72157619672648412/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/revoluxtoys/sets/72157631692405557/
Great sharing spirit, allot of great links here. I really like reviewing Dons photos every once in awhile, there's something magical about the old days of RxH, many collectors and toy makers draw inspiration from that period... http://www.flickr.com/photos/datadub/sets/1537160/
