Had I known, I'd have gotten the 2nd one! If the guy shows up at future local toy shows, I'll get her sister! He had a ton of this stuff, probably 30+ pieces, but I had to settle on just a few!
When I was a kid walking home from school in the 70's, I would pass by this pet shop that had a lot of small Hanna Barbera squeak toys; really obscure ones like alien from Josie and the Pussycats in Outer Space and Autocat and Motormouse, as well as Atom Ant, etc. That was the first time I ever had the urge to collect anything, but the prices were too high even back then. Oh well. The smaller ones are from Lanco Spain, I believe. Top Cat is by Bucky and Huckleberry the Cop is by Dell; who also published his comic at the time.
That Top Cat is great. Here is a great Hanna-Barbera flickr group if anyone is interested. Lots of great vintage toys and everything else. Some people have amazing collections, I like looking at stuff more than having another crazy set of toys to collect. http://www.flickr.com/groups/hanna-barbera/
Holy shit Curtis, Muttley & Huckleberry blow my mind, but Top Cat holds a special place with me too. Are these pieces you've had from growing up, or more modern acquisitions? After viewing the thread, I actually called my grandmother up and asked about some squeeky vinyls from my childhood. Turns out none of them belonged to me, but actually to my mom & her brother. They're still sitting around her house, and I expect to receive them later this month once she unearths them
Thanks Crab- they are recent aquisitions.Top Cat is my favorite -I have some other TC toys like figural bowling pins, etc. And the Muttley figure is really Mumbly from the Really Rottens- (Nerd Moment) . When HB did Laff-A-Lympics; a company that co-created Wacky Races were having a battle of character usage with Hanna Barbera, so to circumvent that-Dastardly and Muttley became the Dread Baron and Mumbly. ~I hope your Mom find some cool figures for you!
Crazy, I assume they had the exact same voice actors and everything? I don't think I've heard "Laff-a-lympics" in at least ten years, but it had to be on Boomerang when I did.
That thing is bad ass. A part of me wants to worship it as an openly false idol. Seriously an awesome squeeker.
That has to be the best squeky toy ever. Too bad i dont collect squekys, my dog would rip em to bits.
This one is an HUGE vintage squeak toy made in Italy , by "Ledra" (elephant symbol) 4 legs are moveable and his head too. A very old Pongo from 1962
Scamp the puppy (Lady & the Tramp s'son) made by Nakajima (Japan) Very big sleepy eyes puppy from 1962
^^^^^ Uhhh.... Don't visit this thread often.... But holy shit... Evil teletubby. Great shots... These things are pretty rotten in a good way...
Glad to see you like them. Actually teletubbies are cheap rip offs of this beloved character from Taiwan Bibo. He's from a live action drama and here is a youtube video of some of the fond memories of Bibo from the show that are no less rotten than these toys haha. Enjoy!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwgHzlo-Z_M
^^ I scored a small and large, both in yellow, recently. I love them Those purple and green colorways look great! Here's some vintage squeakers i'm starting to collect, excuse the double post, i've previously posted them in the 'cute' thread. I know there is a purple and a burgundy in large and small too out there too. In addition to the squeakers I also have a sparking walker and a foam one too. I really want the clock but they don't make it anymore sadly. If anyone has a spare or sees one, please let me know!
Vintage Tom by Combex . . . still squeaks Vintage Tom Squeaker by The Moog Image Dump, on Flickr Vintage Tom Squeaker by The Moog Image Dump, on Flickr
My first squeaker by a company called Lone Star. Great quality soft vinyl . . . . but i've noticed whoever cut the excess away at the base just chopped straight angles rather than follow the curve. Still squeaks. 50p from a local Junk Shop Vintage Cow Multi Angle by The Moog Image Dump, on Flickr Vintage Cow Squeaker by The Moog Image Dump, on Flickr
