Damn, I was really pulling for another Moondog release.... It's the last "A Trip to the Moon" -inspired piece I need...
So what, people always post information on Elegab lotteries and nobody complains. This one is $900 so it's taboo ??? This will soon turn into a new NNN thread at this rate.
I don't collect elegab so I wouldn't fucking know. But posting lotteries used to be frowned upon. If they aren't good to know! I'll start posting them now.
I tend to defer to the rules that were in place before I joined, since they helped create the atmosphere I found. I also think that if people can't be bothered to check the maker's website/social media, then they really aren't too into the maker. I like when toys go to diehard fans of them, rather than people who stumble upon them as the flavor of the month and just apply for trade bait, or because they think it's "hot". On the reverse side, I get that some people don't use social media and have work schedules far more intense then mine. I suppose I should also be in favor of anything that gets conversation going around here. In this case, I think the price will also weed out a bunch of people.
I can't agree more ^^^ It's annoying sometimes some of our community overseas love to IG blast new lotto releases before the acceptance period is even over. "HEY FLIPPERS, Look over here, free $$$"
+1 Been checking the website twice a day since the first update. And some IG posted the lotto before it end. Slimming down the chances.
I don't think SB is where flippers get the information about this kind of new releases. There is so much outside here that pushes hype. My point was simply that if the rule for keeping info on lotteries off topics before the deadline must be enforced, which I respect , it applies to both a toy worth $10 or $1000. It's not about respecting an investment, it's about respecting a fellow collector... Even if you don't give shit to a brand... Nobody complains for Elegab but here it's suddenly a big deal... I don't understand. Now back to the main interest, the "toy" itself. Nice design I like it. Completely out of my league, with a LARGE margin... But at this price, is it really a toy anymore ? Not really. It should have been resin, what's the point of this being sofubi ?
At this price, I don't see any room for flippers to squeeze out more profit. I'm curious the edition size, and feel like with this approach and price, if they are going to market it more towards a sculpture or art, and less toy. Like most art they should disclose the edition. If it was a run of 10, knowing that they don't have a history of doing multiple releases of figures, I would think it was a great deal. A run of 50, not really a steal any more. And they aren't fulfilling the order until February, giving themselves plenty of time to work out finishing a much larger run. Aside from the price/flipper discussion, the toy itself looks great. Attention to detail is above and beyond.
This piece is really amazing. But holy crap 900 bucks! I remember the price scaring me away from entering the lotto for that two headed dragon. Then I saw pictures of it on ig and regreted not trying to get it. This volcano man is really freaking cool. But if any of my family found out how much I'd spend on it, I'd never hear the end of it.
Wow that thing is bonkers. Couple hundred bucks in the paint ap alone. This is a toy for MOMA. An edition of whatever for a sofubi art sculpture. Purty flipping amazing.
I think it took Nags years to reach a 1000 in value. Uzumark is pretty obscure and they kind of release something and it disappears. Unless they start running their toys for years and years like Nag to gain popularity, I just don't see it.
