got it at work in October , gave it to my family before I knew I had it. Wife was hospitalized for 5 days and had a rough time. Doing better now. We all were able to get the pfizer vaccine recently, completed both doses. No major side effects, hoping to avoid all future variations...we shall see

On pins and needles as to which I'll get when the mass eligible date soon approaches. Phizer also seems to be the first choice, then Moderna, then J&J. Few oldheads from my Pokémon Go crew got rocked by the Moderna one side-effects wise. Was surprised to learn they're only 6 month doses too.

The 2nd Moderna shot knocked me on my ass on day 2. On day 3 I was back at it, but still feeling a little rough around the edges. On day 4 I was fine, other than slight tenderness at the site of the injection.

Heard the same thing about the 2nd dose from a bunch of people.

Still a couple of months before we get to find out . . . bring it on!

Just heard on the news that the UK wants to mix n' match vaccines now with noooooo scientific proof that it's safe??? I guess because people have a first dose of the blood clotting one and don't want a second dose? The fuck is going on over there...

Where did you see that? Every source I've checked says there have been trials, but the policy is still to have the same version both times. France and Germany are advising switching vaccines but so far the UK is not going to do that. They are saying it may be safer to give under-30's a different vaccine going forward, but no mention of officially swapping between doses.

They were talking about in on CNN today and american doctors were pretty outraged at the idea. I just looked it up and it seems it was France and Germany who are suggesting switching up the second dose. I'm American though so the UK and France and Germany are all the same place somehow.

The U.K.’s Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation advises: “All those who have received a first dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine should continue to be offered a second dose of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine, irrespective of age. The second dose will be important for longer lasting protection against COVID-19.”

In contrast, France’s health regulator recommends that people under the age of 55 who have received their first dose of AstraZeneca should get Pfizer or Moderna for their second shot. It advises a gap of 12 weeks between these first and second shots in these instances. The regulator stated there is no reason to fear specific adverse events if you had the first AstraZeneca jab and then switch to an mRNA jab for the second.

Germany has followed a similar path. The German vaccine committee recommended that people under the age of 60 who had received one shot of the AstraZeneca jab should opt for a different vaccine for their second dose.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention maintains that the safety and efficacy of a mixed-product series have not been evaluated.

The recommendations for switching come out of concerns for blood cloths in women 20-55yrs old. It is not a suggestion for the whole country

here in Germany we’re a bit screwed as the roll out has been slow and the anti-Vax movement has been picking up. Added to this that many in the general population don’t really follow precautions, it adds up to a sh*t show of a state of affairs.

im lucky to be in home office this year but last year in was commuting to work and my anxiety has never been so out of control.

And this is from someone that survived the mexican drug wars of the early teens.
    Stay safe fam!

I honestly don't get where this mixing idea comes from... we don't mix wines, why the hell should we mix vaccines???

It's solely because the safety of AstraZeneca has been called into question. As @gatiio mentioned, mostly women of certain ages are having serious but rare reactions, so France and Germany are being extra cautious when it comes to the second jab. I agree though, it doesn't sound like a sensible idea and I think its giving ammunition to the anti-vacc movement.

I get the point of being cautious, but since some poeple already got et astrazeneca jab and were okay with, why not proceed with the second jab??

Today JJ was pulled from everywhere in the US because the CDC said so. Apparently it caused blood clots in at least six women so far here and killed one of them.

Getting my first dose tomorrow... have to drive about 45 minutes north so that I can get it sooner than later. Won't know which I'm getting (Pfizer or Moderna) until I get there. Feeling excited to get the thing half-done!

Got two doses of Pfizer, my second one just this past April 9th. First shot brought nothin’ more than a sore area where the dose was given. Second shot gave the same, and slight body aches a day later. Thankfully nothin’ more than that!

The site for my county crashed hard yesterday. Annoying that I can't schedule, but assuring that so many people around here are looking to get stuck.

Great news! Did you use one of the sites like Hey Dr B to get your appointment? One of the young healthy folks on my team got a last minute appointment on Monday morning and had to drive from Boston to Springfield for their shot.

No, just our state DoH site- registration for people in my age bracket went live one morning a couple weeks ago at 8:00AM, and instantly all apptmts right here in Burly were gone. But the site let you schedule for any of several vaccine sites across the state, so I was able to pick St. Albans. St. A is also the site of our state's only Taco Bell, so when I go up for my next dose on 5/05 (how appropriate), I may hit Taco Bell for old-old time's sake. (Already wondering just how much I will regret that choice...)

Getting my first jab of Phizer on Wednesday. Took me so long to get in touch with my county due to the website being broken, but once I talk to a live person I get an appointment 24 hours later. Can't remember the last time I got a shot. Probably 30 plus years ago.
