I'm about halfway through the 2nd season, which is going great. I even hipped one of my nephews to the show a while back, which made me a cool uncle for a very brief moment. I wouldn't say I like it more than Rick & Morty but I do like it a lot, the sub-plot of the shrunk people in the terrariums adds a lot to it.

    Giri/Haji (Netflix)

Kelly MacDonald and Will Sharpe are great in this, and all the Japanese actors also do a great job. Split between London/Tokyo.

Kenzo Mori, a Tokyo detective, travels to London in search of his brother, Yuto who was previously assumed to be dead. Yuto has been accused of murdering the nephew of a Yakuza member, which threatens to start a gang war in Tokyo.

If you have the streaming service Shudder I can’t recommend In Search of Darkness I and II enough. Two documentaries that are about four and a half hours each, both chronicling 80’s horror movies.

Anyone watching Invincible? First season was very enjoyable. I love how they nailed the art style. When the comics were first coming out I was onboard for a good run but fell off. Now I want to go back and read it from the beginning.

I loved what they did with invincible. Slight differences from the comic but it all worked so well.

The Sons of Sam was an extremely interesting watch. David Berkowitz is my favorite serial killer(purely from an interest of the mind/psyche perspective) and I had absolutely zero knowledge of all the craziness that ensued throughout the years this documentary takes place. Four episodes, greatly covered and detailed, but the narrator is very, very over mic’d, in my opinion(my only gripe).

As a sci-fi nerd who stoops to watch crap like Elysium (and worse, I just can't think of other titles rn) I'm sitting here with NF pushing Jupiter's Legacy down my throat. But even at my lowest I can't imagine watching it. Based on the still photo alone, I can't imagine anything being worse than JL. And the auto-play preview certainly didn't do anything to change that opinion. It's usually so hard for me not to jump at something that combines sci-fi and Greek (ugh, okay, Roman - whatever) mythology, even when I know it's going to be bad. But in this case, it's very easy.
If any of you are brave enough to watch it, and can say anything positive about it in attempt to sway me, I may reconsider watching it. That's not a challenge! I am not suggesting or requesting that any of you attempt to sway me.

Anyway, watch Them on Prime. I still can't believe nobody is talking about it. Creepy AF! Hereditary + Jordan Peele. Beautifully shot and one of the creepiest and scariest things I've watched in years.

I tried Jupiter’s legacy the other day.
    It is that bad.
It’s interesting that we were given so many superheroes and their families series recently. I am thinking of the new Superman series, Invincible, wandavision and now this. Hollywood has decided that to sell, the new superheroes needs to be more humans and gave them a wife (or husband) and children. Or give us superheroes with no powers like the new Captain America… it’s curious isn’t it?

thanks for the recommendation, I’ll give Them a try. Hereditary is the one film that scared me last year.

AUTO-PLAY PREVIEWS ARE THE ENEMY AND MUST BE DESTROYED!

Actually, auto-play previews are just a major annoyance to me and my relatively minimal decision-scroll time has greatly improved since I figured out that you can shut the feature off. Even better is when I discovered that you can toggle a virtual switch and no longer have to deal with the next episode automatically playing before the credits even roll on the thing you just had a look at. Peace on Earth in our time.

WHAT?! I must look into this and change the default. The other services at least provide ample time to stop the auto play from happening - NF's time is ridiculous.

You may need to log on to Netflix using a desktop browser to change that setting. The last time I did it, the setting was not present in the app.

They're prepping us for when superheroes become real, as US military assets. Absurd, yes, but I called it.

Anyway I'm enjoying Invincible a lot. Using other shows to break up a full watch of Battlestar Galactica, which I'm seeing for the first time. Goes without saying but I'm enjoying the hell out of that one.

Was surprised to learn that Tricia Helfer and James Callis (Six and Gaius) played very minor roles in Rick and Morty. They voice Tammy's (killer robot) parents at Bird Person's wedding.

Invincible was great and I liked the violence.
Jupiter's Legacy? Comic is great but the tv show is so bad. It looks like people wearing bad wigs and the production is horrible. I expected it to be more in line with The Boys.

As someone who watches nearly every science fiction and super hero show out there,
Jupiters legacy is terrible. The comic, quite good, I mean, it is Mark Millar. Who I guess has his own production team with netflix. Hopefully whatever comes next isn't this bad.
New season of Castlevania! That series is pretty awesome.

I should catch up on that. Funnily enough Alucard is also Gaius from Battlestar. I only bring it up because he hasn't been in many things since then.

I assume you;re talking about the mid-aughts reboot and not the original series. IMO, that's still the best sci-fi show that Ive seen.

I like this, reminds me of the 80s when some folks were saying the government was prepping us for aliens with films like Close Encounters and ET.
You are in for a treat for the first three seasons, then the fourth one falls flat on its face. When Game of Thrones wrapped up, many reviewers were referencing Galactica's crash and burn. It was a fantastic show, though, good science fiction that referenced the issues of the time. There is a thread here you may want to check out after you're done, you can see the rollercoaster of emotions as we followed that space convoy:

I am actually excited to see Army of The Dead on netflix tonight. Not because I think it will be great but it's been too long since I've seen something with zombies and a budget. Here's hoping!

Finally giving Los Espookys a spin. 4 eps in. Utterly, ridiculously absurd but cutely enjoyable.
