sorry if there's a thread already- just wondering if anyone had any remedies for some curled corners on a cape. The cape isn't brittle or anything, it's on a condorman toy that I snagged in japan. I was reading on some other toy forums that hot water tends to do the trick, but I wanted to check first and see if anyone here has had any experience with it. Thanks-
Very tricky this question. Best I've been able to do is flatten vinyl between two pieces of cardboard. Once accomplished, though, the displayed cape, frill, etc. may well curl again. I have a windup Arashi horse whose frill I have prevented from curling with a simple strategically placed piece of paper.
Bumping this up because I just received a (new) toy with a cape that is drastically warped/dented as it was compressed against a textured body. I’m curious if anyone has any additional advice to offer on flattening or revitalizing a vinyl cape. So far I’ve simply tried heating up the material with a hair dryer but it mostly just softened up a bit. I’ve considered using an iron on low heat with a piece of cloth in between and giving it a dip in boiling water, but I’m hesitant to try anything else at the moment.
So after coming across this thread on another forum I went for the boiling water and it worked out pretty well. http://www.starwarsforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=3256
Wow, Gonna try this did you used the tea paper or whatever they suggested? I wonder if this works for scarfs?
