People are already protesting here for a bunch of other issues. Some people are mobilizing to protest the USPS issue.

Five USPS packages this month so far that said DELIVERED to me but didn't actually show up. Four of them showed up in the next couple of days but one seems to just be gone. I know it's not really the postal employees fault but fuck it sure is frustrating

Ugh! That's horrible! Sorry to hear this happened to you. Is it possible they were stolen while being delivered? I'm noticing more and more that parcels left on the door steps of our neighborhood are getting swiped! I was tracking an Amazon order (usually delivered by UPS, but sometimes USPS), and was outside of the house trimming a plant. USPS pulled up and handed me a package. I noticed a car following the USPS truck, stopping when the delivery truck stopped, and waiting for him to proceed. Our neighbors are pretty good about looking after each others packages. If we happen to see a package unattended, we'll take it in and leave a note or text each other that we are holding it for safety. They say mail theft has increased drastically during the Covid shelter in place . I just wish the mail delivery person would not leave parcels in unsecured areas. UPS is notorious in our neighborhood for leaving them at the front door in full view (sometimes they don't even ring the doorbell to let you know there is a delivery). USPS is a 50/50 chance they'll hold the package or just leave it. I try to send all parcels by signaure required or certified mail. Unfortunately most of the time, vendors don't do this :x

p.s. for Amazon orders, i'll have things sent to an Amazon locker or participating Amazon-delivery business (i.e. lots of hardware stores serve as delivery holding locations), when I know i won't be around to take delivery.

Most of them were delivered later in the week. It must just be usps people marking them as delivered to save time by not getting out of the truck and not actually trying to deliver them until a day or two later. I can't imagine how awful that would be if I were the one shipping things instead of receiving them. I'm not worried about stolen packages since I'm working from home most of the time now.

Amazon on the other hand uses real time tracking and I get to see how many stops away my stuff is and they send a picture of the package and where they left it as soon as it's delivered. Which is helpful since they often drop things off at a neighbors house mistakenly and I can still just go grab it.

So Amazon now has Ring Mailbox Sensor. Soon to be followed by motivated local, independent Ring sellers stealing your mail probably. The future is here. We're droning in it.

I mailed a USPS flat rate priority 2-day box on Tuesday. Had it picked up by my mailman during his route.

Now SIX days later it finally reached MY OWN LOCAL POST OFFICE.

Six days sitting in a mail truck? I'm not mad or anything. I know about the huge issues they are having because they are basically being sabotaged internally but it's still crazy how bad it's gotten.

FedEx is worse. 10x the cost for the same delayed service. Had a package recently sit at the local depot for 6 days, with daily emails saying it would be delivered that day, before finally being delivered on the 7th day. I'd much rather utilize USPS than any other service. Even if the cost were the same, I'd use USPS over FedEx/UPS.

this is exactly how I feel about fedex. 9 times out of 10, whatever is arriving is late. I will never willingly use Fedex.

    Haha!
I actually really like our UPS delivery dude - he's great. Don't have much experience with Amazon, as we kicked the habit a year or two ago.

I am getting really frustrating price escalation on USPS priority mail now based on package dimension. Example: A 16"x14"x8" package will be $20 USD more expensive for the same weight and remote region than a 16"x12"x8" package.

Yup! Got that nasty surprise two visits ago. I ended up reboxing the parcel right there at the post office, using a flat rate priority box. I think it might be their strategy to make us ship everything using those flat rate boxes!

I now see that dimensional-based pricing kicks in at 1,792 cubic inches (LxWxH) which matches what I observed with my carton sizes above. Although there is plenty of chatter about base rates for Priority Mail going up, I’m not finding a change for dimensional rates other than a change from 2019 for this. Also, prepare to get dimensionally f’d here in April. From: https://help.shipstation.com/hc/en-...view#summary-of-2022-postage-rate-changes-0-0
