Sadly disappointed with the show. Had high hopes but now half way through the first season and thinking it’s too late for it to get interesting. I hope I’m wrong but I agree with everyone else in the gripes. This is not the Boba fett we grew up with nor the one we were hoping to get. It’s really strange they went in the direction they did with this show. Please get better!

I'm not as down on it as most seem to be, but holy shit are those bad.

That chase scene seemed so slow. Otherwise, I'm not as down on the show as others.

Spoilers ahead for Roger's Book of Nitpicks: Episode 4.

Man, this new episode doubled down on all of the goofiness of the previous one. I don't think I'll ever get over Chef Grievous.

What a clumsy spaceship heist. Good thing nobody in Jabba's palace noticed that buzzing drone with multiple bright LEDs mounted on it. And when Boba and Fennec arrived at the hangar, they had at least two, maybe three chances to just board the ship, the thing they were trying to get to. Let's play cat and mouse around these pillars instead.

The Sarlacc scene started out interesting but the resolution was dumb. You're telling me that one of those depth charges that's able to crack open giant asteroids isn't strong enough to vaporize the Sarlacc and Boba's (now nameless, I'm fine with it) ship?

I cannot make sense of the timeline. The Mandalorian takes place five years after Return of the Jedi. Boba rescues Fennec and has her cyborged five years after he fell into the Sarlacc. So he was out in the desert living with the Tuskens for five years? It doesn't feel like it.

This could be the nitpickiest nitpick of all nitpicks but didn't that gate on Jabba's palace raise upwards, instead of retracting into the ground? Or was it a different gate? I have no idea why the showrunners would change this, except to make that counterweight scene work.

And now that we're finally getting some insight into why Boba is changing career paths, it only makes him slightly sympathetic. "Think of the money that could have been made, and lives that could have been saved," but then when he elaborates he's really just bitter about all of the bounty hunters and assassins that have bitten the dust. "Oh, Poor you!"

What a subtle musical cue at the end, letting us know that The Mandalorian is going to drop in next week.

I can be such a Negative Nellie. I feel like I have to say something nice now. I liked the reference to Yuzzums. I have accepted Max Rebo's new body. I've even warmed up to the CG Trandoshan faces. Don't worry about that arm, it'll grow back.

No, you really do not. Such a wasted opportunity. It's like Jon Favreau is stuck with the curse of George Lucas, and Boba is his prequels.

Thank you, I appreciate you and I appreciate you enabling me.

That Mandalorian cue really bugged the shit out of me. WHY DO WE HAVE TO FORESHADOW EVERYTHING? WHY CAN'T THE AUDIENCE JUST BE SURPRISED FOR ONCE! DOES EVERYTHING HAVE TO BE A TELEGRAPHED CALLBACK TO SOMETHING ELSE?

I dropped out early, but not early enough to not have to think to myself, "Yes, sand: that's exactly the thing that back-room mechanicals need to function at their best. Why 'close her up' indeed?"

WHY DIDN'T THEY JUST DUNK HER IN BACTA?

If I had a choice, I'd want my original parts to grow back. What if she planned on having children? I guess since Boba's a clone, everybody just goes that route.

Wait a minute, did Jango teach Boba about the birds and the bees? These are the important questions that the series needs to answer.

Maybe they just should have made a 90-minute OVA called 'How Boba got His Bling Back'

I didn’t hate this episode. I liked the backstory on Boba saving fennick and how she became his number 2. Sure, there were some WTH moments and pretty bad CGI but this was a lot better than last weeks trash fire. Everyone that watches this knows that it is all leading up to Boba finding Mando so for them to cue Mando’s music throughout the episode doesn’t really bother me. I don’t think anyone will be surprised that Boba discovers Mando and finds his missing Besgard so it doesn’t make me feel like anything was spoiled. In fact it excited me to look forward to next week’s episode and hopefully from there on out things will start to come together more and the show will take off from that point on. I still have reservations but I do like where the show is headed now. Things are about to get interesting… I hope

This episode of Boba Fett is very good, because it's an episode of The Mandalorian.

Whole thing. Thought for sure there'd be some Boba.

Anyone else find the credit "Based on Star Wars by George Lucas" odd, or is it just me?

Loved that this was a full Mando episode. Only gripe is the mechanic has got to be one of the worst actors in anything I have seen and gets way to much screen time in this and The Mandalorian. The episode wasted 15 minutes on repairing the ship. Felt it was totally pointless and they could have told more story then waste 1/4 of the episode focused on the new ship and the annoying Tracy ulman wanna be. Otherwise all is right in the world again! This is the way.

That's Amy Sedaris, from Strangers with Candy, The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and countless other things. She was in a show I loved called Exit 57, where she did one of my favorite comedy sketches ever with Stephen Colbert.

Getting back to Boba Fett, this series also introduced the mayor's aide played by David Pasquesi (who played Andrew, Selina's ex-husband in Veep) and Stephen Root (who played Milton in Office Space). All of these people are excellent comedic actors, and I don't doubt they could approach the roles more seriously if they were directed to and written that way, but I agree with you, the way they play their characters takes you out of the world of Star Wars.

A similar thing has happened with the Marvel films when they've cast Kathryn Hahn, Randall Park, etc. I don't know if this is being done by Disney as an attempt to "kiddify" things, but it doesn't work well for adults who had these worlds expand into our brains as kids, cementing them into our imaginations as "serious" settings.

Guilty. I wrote a letter to Disney a few years ago with a list of comic actors I like, and they have hired every one so far. I enjoy seeing these folks doing their thing!

I get what you are saying and while I am not so familiar with the work Amy Sedaris has done in the past I don't think she is right for any role in the star wars universe. I also really like Stephen Root as an actor. I thought he was great in Justified and obviously iconic as Milton in Office Space but he also doesn't fit in this universe... although his part really doesn't bother me as much as the other "comedic characters". David Pasquesi, who was really good in Veep is terrible as the aide to the Mayor. It just boggles my mind that they would put these actors in roles that do not suit them at all when there are so many more talented actors to fill these parts. Sure a small cameo here or there would work fine but some of these roles are prominent and take up way to much screen time... case and point, the Amy Sedaris scene in The Mandalorian Season 3, Episode 1/Book of Boba Fett Season 1, Episode 5... Anyway, that is my biggest gripe but other than that, this was a great episode of the Mandalorian! Now back to dull Boba and his flashbacks to nowhere.

I can’t stand Amy Sedaris in anything comedic, but she surprisingly the least offensive comedian shoehorned into the Star Wars universe tv shows as of late. I haven’t watched past episode 2 of boba fett, but Horacio Sanz, the speeder driver on the ice planet of episode one of Mandalorian both took me out of the moment so to speak. Fortunately, I didn’t even know who Bill Burr was before his turn on the Mandalorian, but afterward it bugged me a little. I can’t imagine Danny Trejo, or stephen root fair much better but at least I know they can do more serious acting. Root in Get Out was good. Eh.

I forgot that Root was in Get Out. The blind guy. Yeah, he was good in that too.
