That would explain the horrid, heavy-handed application Edit: quoted previous post as my reply started a new page
I've been waiting for one of these nerds to give us a legit answer, but my immediate response to it was Andy Mouse:
I asked Taka via Instagram if Andy Mouse was the inspiration, and he replied it wasn’t, which looking at the above is surprising. Maybe I should have asked what was!
@Bounch - that's crazy! After looking up pics of Andy Mouse the colors were even more spot-on than I imagined...just no gloves/shoes. Really curious what the color inspiration is...
I’m not even sure if there is an inspiration? It being labeled as a Sk8thing version I assumed he just picked colors, or he painted one himself as a master for production.
Looks rad, but too sculptural to my eyes. Like somethin’ I’d see on the handle ends of a spiral staircase, or displayed on an oak table right next to said spiral staircase.
. . . on an Oligarchs yacht! I get that vibe too! Which is bizarre given I fuckin' love this lil' guy . . .
i still can't believe how good this guy looks to this day. plating from this era did not generally hold up too well. i don't own any gold but my silvers have a lot of flaking and cracks.
Same here. Last time I checked it was even scary to grab them bc it felt like the whole toy was covered in baked merengue. I like the size on this guy, but really dislike the whole designer toy aesthetic
This one i like a lot. the vinyl is shiny like regular black vinyl which is a classy sofubi look. I always find sparkle translucent blues age poorly but I love how it looks. This one is up there for me. Maybe it’s bc it’s just gaudy without trying to be faux fancy
@gatiio I think the body is a deep blue vinyl, which if it is, would go so, so nicely with the blue lamé head and hand. This is definitely my second favorite version that’s been released so far!
An improvement on the chrome for sure! Still nothing to touch the handprinted versions. Hoping one day for a factory-paint version (and some luck in snagging one).
I just hope they keep pumping them out and the secondary market price drops. Curious to see the Skulls Kun has popped up on Stock X; just need NHBD to do a colour way of the Sketch Monster and bring the price down.
It's such a basic homage but it works so well. Non-fans would be able to decipher it without explanation.
Tempted, but no interest in the Vick toy or dealing with the NTWRK shitshow. Overpriced, tardy shipping and zero customer service. Once they have the $$$ they don't give a fuck! The comments as they were dropping cracked me up. Speculation of them making 1,000's and guys saying it was sold out despite still being shown as available (encouraging others to hit BUY!). All just seems like a kindergarten playground of hypebeast asshats that actually knew fuck-all! Can you tell I'm not a fan?
