That’s a good one and realistic. There’s was a film several years before the series, The Magician, with the same character, also good.

A friend nudged me into watching Westworld again. I'm still wondering if they're ever going to stick the landing on this show, but:
    • Charlotte = Dr. Doom
    • Bernard = Dr. Strange
    • Maeve = Professor X
    • William = Wolverine
    • Christina = Neo
    • Teddy = Morpheus

Saw that; seemed even more real in a funny way. Not sure what the lead actor/writer (gapping the name) is doing now, but he did stand-up before this series. Hope to see something again soon.

Scott Ryan. The movie and show are his only published credits. Not sure of his backround, seems like he either lived some life or rubbed elbows with some fellas. Looking forward to what he does next.

Parts of all of those characters can be seen in the counterpoints of Maeve and Halorus aka Hale/Dolores.

Not sure if there is a landing. Seemed like the landing was a few seasons ago, everyone diving into the digital abyss.
And now here we are, 20+ years and a couple of other ‘times’ later.
What’s up with Halorus’ arm? Can’t she rig up a new ‘frame’ and switch out, if that one’s deteriorating?

It's less about their roles than the characters ' "superpowers."

Charlotte keeps her burns around because the writers need us to know she is evil and crazy.

How does one do a ‘spoiler’ post? Can give a quick sum up for where and when we are in Westworld. And Futureworld and Flapperworld, too.

Just finished 'The Boys' recent season. Enjoyed it, had a few reservations but overall it's a blast. My brother was saying how for him it was too splatter/gore this time but it didn't seem any different to previous seasons for me ...

How To With John Wilson on HBO
Video collage, documentary something or other that offers guidance in how to split a restaurant check, protect furniture, small talk etc.
He somehow collects a lot of footage from NYC and weaves into something almost poetic at times.

That episode bookended episode 8 from season 2 of Breaking Bad, titled "Better Call Saul". Last night's episode, "Waterworks", bookends with the very first episode of Breaking Bad, "Pilot". Didja recognize the "I don't do no paperwork" guy?
In that little bit that showed right after the first of the credits, a red herring and a clue.

Reservation Dogs is back; Paper Girls is, not unexpectedly, disappointing, and Better Call Saul is very soon to depart this mortal coil.

    PS: @eleggua - I noticed.

Have you seen the Belgian movie that works a little like the Magician? Man Bites Dog (Might have been an inspiration for The Magician, I dont know)
Back in the day, we would demand it to be played in the bus when going on school trips. Having seen it again recently, I dont know how our teachers dealt with that.
    It's pretty out there.

Yes! Great eye there, nico000; definitely similar and certainly, possibly influential. Haven't read much of Scott Ryan discussing process, though. I recall Man Bites Dog was much funnier, rolling-in-the-aisles funny. The lead is great! His goofy countenance and the suits belie the atrocities and heighten the absurdity. Those bus rides sound like good times!

Watching the trailer for Man Bites Dog to refresh memory, reminded of a few other films for various reasons, though none are in black-and-white.
    - Short film by Alan Clarke, 'Elephant', a litany of IRA assassinations.
    - Gerard Johnson's 'Tony: London Serial Killer', quite fantastic and disturbing, as the lead character's a milquetoast fellow living in a tower block, that easily passes suspicion. Wonderful, eerie soundtrack by the director's brother, Matt Johnson aka The The, too.
    - 'Merde', one-third of the anthology trilogy, Tokyo. Lead character's a troglodyte in a green suit, charging around the streets of Tokyo, molesting passers-by.

Yay! Pointed him out to friends, no one'd recognized him, though. One said, that guy's too stocky. Seems it's that minor problem in BCS with the same actors playing younger versions of characters they'd played years ago, when they're significantly older than when they portrayed the older versions of the same character.

Carol Burnett was great, sold it with just facial expressions in the scene on the telephone.

    Better Call Saul Finale...

[IMG] Fitting ending I'd say, I like the back and forth over the timeline to tighten everything up. Jimmy had basically beat the system. Yet decided to make sure Kim was 100% solid even if it meant life in prison for him. (although had she not of told the widow about Howard's death, he would of walked away clean in 7.5 years. Nice to see how that all went down, and see Kim gaining some respect back for Jimmy

Kim wasn't in danger of any legal repurcussions; the threat of civil suit was minor: she's broke anyway.
Jimmy did what he did to achieve a measure of redemption: bared his soul, admitted his faults, gave up the ugly. He wanted her, the greatest love of his life, to know, what she said to him in that phone booth call from Nebraska, along with what he found out last minute in the plea deal meeting, woke him.
He can live with himself now. It's clear, he's ok with the rest of his fellow inmates calling him "Saul", but he's not revelling in it. He's Jimmy again. "Saul Gone", the title of the episode.

Throughout the series, the past is in color; the present, black and white. The images in post above, the past reflected in his glasses, in color.
Their (perhaps) final time to be physically together, the color: an old flame. Brilliant show. The "thank you" messages at the end, genuinely moving.

Very glad Bob Odenkirk survived the heart attack and was able to complete the journey. Wishing him a wonderful, healthy, happy life from here on out.

    Tyger! Tyger! burning bright
In the forests of the night,
    What immortal hand or eye
    Could frame thy fearful symmetry?
