He's a little toad yokai looking creature dressed up Shinto style. Very little thought went into the piece. Just my love for anime and my cultural backround. Was created on a whim because I really wanted to make something in soft vinyl and boom Shintoad was created. I chose to have the mold destroyed, so there are 125 + few test pulls in existence!

Same result and cheaper medium had it been resin, no?

the point of the mold is to have tons of prints. No point in going through the whole production process just to destroy the mold.

the eyes and face texture remind me of that slave one gero toy from a while back.

Probably would retain the same amount of detail if cast in resin and would be cheaper, but I wanted to make it in soft vinyl because of my love for sofubi.
I chose to have the mold destroyed because Shintoads parts were attached to the same plate as another artists figure, so that frustrated me a little because I wanted to keep the mold. But I don't mind exclusivity. It's not like my little buddy would fly off the shelves anyway lol. Appreciate the feedback :)
I dig that slaveone piece lmao he's a dork.

Thanks again to Evildave for the sick ass paint job he did on Shintoad. Definitely sitting in a nice spot in my collection. Thought I'd share with the community. Screenshots_2023-01-07-12-50-07.png

I'm curious, what was the process of destroying the molds like?

Mm well for me it was a bummer but was able to move on fast and seek other new ideas for toys. But the handler of the mold had told me he would put dents in it so its technically not "destroyed" but I haven't seen what the mold itself looks like either.

Shintoad is very cute. Too bad about the mold. But I understand if you don't get along with another artist, and your piece is stuck in the same mold that can create some bad feelings.

If you didn’t mind spending a little money you could have cut the mold apart and had your figure reattached on an individual mold. They also do these super soft vinyl pulls they use to make multi molds and the pulls are so soft there is no need for wax. You could have done a multi mold and put 3 or so figures on a mold. What have cost money for the mold but would have greatly reduced your cost per pull. Anyway too late now. But just knowledge for the future. Maybe you’re working with an inexperience producer or just someone who doesn’t care if they aren’t running these options by you.
Also true mold destruction from my understanding is also done by filling the mold with concrete though I’m sure anything that hardens and can’t be pulled from a metal mold like resin would work just as well.
