Hello! I am very new to the sofubi scene, having gotten my first less than a week ago. However, I've been a long time admirer.
I'm in elementary school teacher with a Kaiju / Tokusatsu themed classroom. Giant monsters and giant superheroes are in my DNA. It's been really cool immersing myself in this funky weird sofubi subculture!

That sounds very cool indeed, would have loved to attend a classroom like that. Nothing like a place of learning filled with passion and enthusiasm; talk about inspiring young minds - could not think of better. Well done!

Here it is! It's Siccaluna's Raizo. He looks so friendly that my girlfriend and I made him a lei! He's actually going to be a part of a kaiju luau diorama display (if any of you are looking to sell Siccaluna's Aldonique, let me know! He wants to party, too!)

Love that Raizo! I was after a translucent orange one for a bit but gave up. Awesome diorama as well!

I think my head would explode if I walked into my kid's classroom and it was Kaiju/Tokusatsu themed! Good on you, welcome to the boards!

Oh geez, I thought I responded to these, my bad! I appreciate both of your kind words. It's definitely important to create an environment that both makes you as a teacher feel motivated, but also makes the kids feel inspired and safe, and I think I achieved that with the Mighty Monstars.

Oh man as a psych major training to work with kids I absolutely adore your classroom theme. Little me would have been so excited to be in a class like yours, loving monsters and reptiles as I did(and still do). Also hell yeah to a Siccaluna being your first toy in the scene!

    Hi.

I'll just steal and edit Logan's.

Hello! I am very new to the sofubi scene, having gotten casts of my first less than a month ago.

I've collected them randomly for a long while though, I'm not very particular, or educated on the topic, my Kaiju knowledge for example is Ultra (har har!) scattered.

My shelves are a mess of old threeA, random western toys like that older big iron giant toy, and random vinyl, resin and diecast mix, and a bunch of skulls and bones and dried bats and things like that.

I like monsters, I make some, I buy some.

    Hello! I'm Henrik from Sweden.

Long time toy collector but pretty new to sofubi. Yes, I know I'm late to the party but the joy I feel when I find something keeps me going. I have to say that this site is a fantastic resource. But it's bittersweet at the same time looking at all great collections and reading the interesting stories and see the pictures from the stores in Japan.

The "sad" thing is that I have been to Japan many times. I was there my first time in the mid 90's. I have been dealing collectable records for many years so the vinyl took me to Japan. But at that time I didn't have any knowledge about sofubi. And now is it nearly 10 years since the last time I was there. (I'm working in sales today.) But I hope to go back next year depending on the prices for the flights.

I like SB, Gargamel, Bwana, and Blobpus among others. And of course the classic Ultraman monsters.

Welcome Henrik! Excellent to have you here. Yes, I think probably many of us can relate. To think of some opportunities we have passed up. But I would say the counter argument to that is, it is better late than never, and you are right, there is just so much to enjoy in this hobby. The variety, the creativity, the fun, and of course the great people and community. Welcome to Skullbrain, and always interested to hear about other collections, which might not necessarily be sofubi.

Hello, I joined just a few days ago! I've heard of the site before but was recently invited to join in on the fun. I love sofubi and the community built around it. I'm an artist by trade and toy collector at heart! And I've been lucky enough to have my own sofubi produced. Which I would love to create more, but it is pricey. I'm excited to see what the future brings and excited to be exposed to more sofubi on here.
Check me out if you'd like! Thanks

    Hello Everyone!

My name is Mike, and I joined a couple of weeks ago. I’m just now coming up to speed with the ins and outs of the community, and I’m really stoked to be here.

I was first introduced to sofubi by Brent of the amazing Owl Toy. We were first acquainted through music(I am a touring musician). I started following his Instagram page. I was, and am, very taken by his work. His toys are just so vibey and otherworldly. I commented on one of his posts, and we started messaging back and forth about his work, sofubi etc. He offered to send me some toys, I sent him some vinyl and goodies. Little did I know what was getting started, in the best way.

When his toys arrived, it was my first “amazing in hand” toy experience. He sent me an Otus, Surnia, and a Suto. I was in love. I began to look around my house to figure out the best place to display them. At this time, it was around 18 months into the pandemic, and after having cancelled multiple tours in the beginning of 2020, my band was still unable to tour. Having been more or less stationed in my home for months on end, to say my house was a bit in disarray is maybe an understatement.

So, I started working on getting my house in order. After nearly a week of 8 hour days of organizing, Goodwill trips, garbage runs, scrubbing and vacuuming/sweeping, I carved out a respectable spot where Brent’s creations could be displayed in their glory. The process was incredibly therapeutic, and it was the start of a new passion.

Since then, my collection has grown to include more Owl Toy as I can find it, along with toys from Bwana Spoons, Gargamel, Elegab(I’m a Tonneran fiend in particular), Hedorahs from both Marusan and Bullmark, Martin Ontiveros toys, Secret Base, Siccaluna and Max Toy, and more. My collection is smallish (so far), but I find a shit ton of pleasure in it.

Lastly, I feel incredibly fortunate and lucky to have been introduced to this world of hand-painted skill and kickassery from a vast sea of creators, and to be at all involved in a site such as Skullbrain where I can learn more and enjoy other’s passion for creating and collecting. Cheers!

It's always dope to see people come into the hobby in the right way; a love of the art and respect for the community. It can be a welcome respite from the chaos of the world, and it was really great to be a part of things during COVID when normal life just sort of...stopped. But hey, you're here now and welcome!

    And Yob is dope
