Yeah, Kotorimark came out quite some time ago, he just hasn’t put many out and has done so very discreetly. I admittedly still don’t know the name of it. Dude’s one of the vintage geek elite in Japan, so it’s not only awesome for him to put one out in this style, but also very appropriate to his personal taste.
I'm not understanding the love for this toy and hate for futile toy? I like both quite a bit. They both are great sculpts that feel like the vintage inspiration they're very obviously meant to be. This newest light blue version from Kororimark is a fantastic colorway especially bagged in the orange or red mesh.
I think both figures are cool. I thought there was some sort of connection between them but I guess it's just "parallel evolution." I really love that mini dinosaur volcano playset though. One of these days.
Got my hands on a Kiba Kaiu recently at Summer Slime from the Creature Bazaar table. This was also my first time seeing it in person, which was rad. A bit bigger than most traditional pachi toys, but I’d consider that a major plus to have it upscaled from the Miura Toy predecessors I find this to be inspired by. Kaiu has the perfect nostalgic feel of a kid’s toy, while simultaneously feeling contemporary to the culture of modern day sofubi collectors. Even doing a release that’s intentionally a bit beaten up in the paint and such would be pretty fun for the sake of a “played with” aesthetic. These textures are perfectly crude. It’s not *at all* a diss or knock; quite the opposite, actually, when I say it looks so rushed to get done, but is very intentional. The brown vinyl base and black/silver sprays give off that “grab bag” of dinos you’d see in a dollar store or a grocery store toy aisle. It’s jus so goddamn good. The sky blue vinyl base version is my favorite to date, but I really like this toy a lot. Spoiler
