I'll be there, I helped track down the print and book the PCC, line up at toycon is great and you absolutely should attend, Creature Bazaar will have a ton of stuff, plus Mori-san will be there, Kore KOre will have headlock bits, we have exclusives from Devil's Kaiju, Retroband, Un,afilliated, Ultraradicaltoysworks, Barley Human Toys & Kaiju One.
I always fine the atmosphere to be really nice and it is nowhere near as hectic as D-Con.

Oh wow @donnierobot, I don't even know what to say except sincere thanks. That is AMAZING work, and I am super grateful for the efforts, and for everyone involved who agreed/assisted to make this happen. Henson is right up there with Harryhausen in terms of visual geniuses for me, so this film holds a very special place for me. To see it revisited on the big screen will be a real treat. Did I say Thank You? Because, definitely, thank you. Thanks! :D Quite excited. (one might even say chuffed) This is going to be a good one, and I needed something to look forward to.

The full info from PCC, for non-instagram content

Digging in to the emergency funds to make this happen, but I have zero regrets.

    again. Well deserved.

Should be a lot of fun on the night, it's the first time the film has been shown on the big screen in London for about 6 years or so, I know the CB guys have a fun pre-show ready too. See ya there!

Toycon uk is always a hard time to be disabled and wheelchair bound.
Travelling to London arranging accommodation is impossible , I previously paid for a friend to go with his kids ,but missed out on most of my wants cos he could only go on Sundays.
This year I would love to have a chance for some RxH etc but fear VIPs will rinse everything and I certainly don't want to send a friend on a wild goose chase.
moan over, sorry, hope everyone has a great time.

Ah, really sorry to hear that man. It's definitely a nightmare trying to navigate the accessibility in London. I might have the parental units for a visit (travelling 7500km, so not so easy to brush them off) hence why I might only be able to go down for the Saturday evening. But for sure if I end up attending the event I am happy to keep an eye out/mule something for you as necessary. Let me know anything else I can do to assist.

Yet another reason I don't go. I hate that VIP shit, that cons do. Everyone should get an equal shot. I know that's not the way the world works but a man can dream.

There was emails from Creature Bazaar for the pre con lottery for these.

they did send another email saying that after the show they will have a normal lottery for these too as they are getting more.

man gutted I won’t be at the show. Looks like an awesome line up. maybe one year!

Okay, as much as this comes as ZERO surprise to me, this still really pisses me off. :x Bad enough that the VIP passes are essentially required [it seems] to get access to most of the 'sofubi' type toys at ToyConUK right now (really, that is encouraging nothing but flipping IMO), but this shit needs to be called out. I don't know who or why, but it doesn't even matter.

REALHEAD X UNBOX INDUSTRIES - TMNT LAST RONIN - PRINCE CHARLES CINEMA EDITION by user tetris_head for £1,000

REALHEAD X UNBOX INDUSTRIES TMNT RONIN PRE-ORDER PRINCE CHARLES CINEMA EDITION by user drinkt-48] for £1,500

This is very uncool. Really spoils the fun, mutual fan appreciation, and comradery of these types of events. Not to mention is a spit in the face of the makers providing accessible toys.

Yeah I saw one of the headlock toys was listed early Saturday afternoon (now gone) as well. Not quite as crazy a price but still flipper level.

Well that's pretty terrible. I didn't think to look or check sold listings, just happened across these looking for something else. I was really surprised to see these too, given how chill and small the actual [PCC] event was.

Its just the norm now unfortunately. I've mentioned I'm not a fan of flippers on FB a few times and lots of angry people told me I don't understand capitalism. Its almost like they want to be taken advantage of. Like the toy isn't 'cool' unless it costs a fuck load.

On a Switch gaming page, people are buying multiple amounts of the new Zelda 'Tears of the Kingdom' special edition OLED switch ... which is £360. They're already all over ebay, even though they're still very much available in shops and on Amazon etc.

To be fair, the vip folks were let in 5 mins before normal ticket holders and there were not a lot of VIP passes at all.

I can't believe that in 2023 we are still getting bent out of shape at flippers lol

... 'bent out of shape' is quite an exaggeration don't you think?

I'd say we comment and share our feelings on the matter, nothing more, nothing less.

why shouldn't we be though, really? If anything, it is this new era of lotteries, exclusivity, and 'premium' collecting that has massively impacted the hobby in negative way, rendering it inaccessible for the average person or new fan. I would say flipping is going to be worse now than ever before due to rising prices and increased popularity. I guess it's fine if that is why you start collecting this sort of thing, but like Moog alluded to above, that is not the motivation of everyone. And certainly not what I would see the roots of this hobby being, being so niche and under the radar with strong parallels to indie music/counter-culture scene, etc. This has always been a very personable, friendly (in its way), open sense of community. The whole premium elitist swagger/, bragging rites, and entitlement that comes with this status chasing crowd [that drives flipping] is very much against the spirit.

And let's not forget, this all comes from love of plastic dollies. Nothing about it should be taken overly seriously. But I would see it - if you are not going to have the love of them as proper toys - as the appreciations of independent craftsmanship. This is not anything like chasing the latest drop for a new pair of Jordans or whatever cool hip overpriced 'street' brand the kids are into these days.

Not pointing fingers, or saying they were flippers, but the volume of new wave 'Crazy Rich Asians' and Euro's that seemed to have flown in was WAY higher than I've seen in the last few years. Possibly attracted by the RxH gang and/or better % at the Headlock lottery given the smaller event attendance (compared to DCon).

The line before doors opened stretched into a dark, piss-stained covered car-park by the hotel bins, so I waited it out up on the hotel patio in the sun above. By the time I tagged on the back of the line and wandered in, ALL the RxH was gone and Goccoddo had a handful of the sitting Chaos left. Fortunately Uamou brought a million cute lil' guys so there was at least 'something' to buy!

My haul was small and focused, but catching up with so many friends from over the years more than made up for missing out on the 'cool shit'.

I think I saw the NFS/Sold Out post from Goccoddo while still on the train even. Glad you snagged a few fun bits Andy, and most importantly had a good time. I would have swung by for a hullo (or maybe a rude gesture), but I know how much you hate people and all. ;)

Would've been happy to dish out the traditional purple-nurple or ball-grab from behind had I known who to look out for!

You had a much better chance of getting something at Toycon than say dcon, I know some folks went to the back of the line and got multiple real head figures. Back when I was a yoot and started collecting in '06 the only way to get stuff was pretty much secondary marketplaces, so having even the smallest chance to get something at retail is a blessing, and prices were £100-£120, which is great. like andy said half the fun is just hanging out and catching up. RH, Goccoddo basically bought one box of figures each as they didn't know how the convention was going to be, luckily they had a super fun time and the folks that were there were respectful (they lined up by themselves and no drama, once inside anyway) so hopefully they'll be back next year with a lot more stock, Andy is right though the organised flippers had gotten wind of how much smaller this is and were there in force, also my hot take is If you want to talk about people ruining the hobby, I would be looking at makers that have jacked up prices to £400-£600 at retail rather than flippers. Anyhoo, I had a great time and was just cool being around so many awesome people, I picked up a few bits and missed a few bits . Par for the course I suppose.

That was my impression too (admittedly from afar), that most of the Japanese makers actually brought small numbers with them.

You are absolutely right, too, of course. [small proportions of] Both sides of the equation have had a hand in bringing this whole market to the ridiculous level it is at right now. But, thankfully, there are still some dudes out there just doin' it for love, and sharing fun toys at accessible prices (some even losing out to do so); present company included. It's about love of toys and good people. But that does not take away from the fact it could be a lot easier and more enjoyable with the souring element as part of it.

Sad to see 35 VIP tickets on sale and Goccodo with about 40 toys on sale.
I can never attend toycon due to disability ,this is the first year I haven't paid for my friend and his kids to go on my behalf.Largely because I saw this flipstravaganza looming.
Sad that toys can't be made available to fans on the one chance we get in the UK, sad I won't support Toycon again.

Yep, thats a fair point. Flippers don't help matters though.

Indeed, its never been easy being a sofubi fan in the UK.
