what's new in your neighborhood?

My Prius took about 5 weeks to fix. Most of that time was waiting/looking for a replacement catalytic converter. Luckily the shop I went to was able to source a brand new factory one and now they car is running well. I went a step further this time and purchased the car shield that makes trying to steal the catalytic converter a pain in the butt.

 

@Dpatterson2005 lucky you! The insurance adjuster and the first body shop I went to have Prius cars waiting 8-12 months for a Toyota factory part. A second market California-certified converter are readily available, usually within a day or two to order. Prius are the number one target. I have an ancient fossil Corolla, so the insurance adjuster was just as surprised as I was that they took it from my car! BTW, turns out my Corolla has two catalytic converters (forward and back ends)!!! Who knew?! They also damaged both oxygen sensors. All the body shops I went to say it only takes an extra minute to bypass the cage. Best thing to do is park the car inside a garage at night!

 

If you got a friend who can wield, have them pull the exhaust down and cover the cat with a junked suspension spring… that’ll keep the haters busy.
