I think the set has serious potential. If anyone is interested in the CP, let me know. I dont really collect them, I know its a long shot but... I want the zag!

If the CP has a hudge zag on it, I might consider it, but those furry punky things just dont do it for me.

    me too
actually I don't think that selling CP+zag as set is a good idea
no offence, but I think that this is more likely a way to sell more CP
everybody wants minizag, not sure that the same could be said about cp...

im sure there is a pretty decent crowd that wants CPs. just like ugly dolls and Dummies and all the other stuff that most of us don't like or collect.

CP has a rabid fan base. I don't think anybody's zag obsession comes close to the most hardcore CP fans.

Even if it were a way to "sell more CP" (which, I doubt it is...if the Gargamel guys like 'em, CP must be doing something right), if you set up a collab with another company, why the hell shouldn't your own creations/product be involved?

I want both, if anyone is interested in buying the set, then giving it to me free of charge, PM please.

I think once we see this CP some minds will be changed, not all of course, but some. I'm very hopeful seems like a fun set.

I'm a Circus Punks collector, and I will probably buy this set. Assuming I do buy the set, I will probably sell my mini-Zag for whatever suggested retail is for mini-Zags. I'm not going to guarantee anything, but if anyone is interested in setting up a tentative deal, let me know.

    no doubts
I respect cp fans, and I'm sure there are crowds of them
but my point was - cp and gargamel are such different areas that to mix them is mmm... well, cp fans have to buy zags they don't want, zags fans have to buy cp they don't want, both pay for stuff they don't want.
would it be more reasonable to release them at one moment as an "event" but sell them separately?

I think the guys at Gargamel likes CP's and wanted to do something different. There are CP's all over Thrashout. S7 has also done three production CP's. There seems to be a fairly good history of CP mixed with Kaiju.

I think the idea usually is, as well, is to try to grab new fans from each. You say "I don't want X but I'll buy the set cause' I want Z" but than you get both and say, "HEY X aint that bad" and you get a little into it....and a little more etc. etc. etc.

If it's got CP attached they'll want it, but it's a great marketing ploy, two sets of fans for a release=gone in a second! It's also good cross marketing, maybe a each will gain a couple new fans from the other camp.

Another example of this whole East West fusion thing going on these days.

If the Zag is amazing, I'd probably go for the set, but sell the Punk to someone.
It would just look odd and alone with my gear.

That's how I saw it. Practically inevitable. IMHO it's the ostensible contrast between a western plush art toy and Gargamel's kaiju postmodernism that makes this collaboration so interesting. If it were, say, Gargamel x Toho or CircusPunks x Ugly Dolls ... not as compelling.

Anyway, the East/West fusion thing is not likely to abate in our ever-shrinking world. It seems like kaiju is at a crossroads where, despite the fact that until recently, kaiju was practically a matter of Japanese iconic identity, the context is changing in a world greatly influence by Japanese culture and commerce; A world in which everyone has seen at least one Japanese monster movie, everyone likes Godzilla, and in which adults are collecting "art toys." Most of the hottest kaiju that RFSO members collect have no cinematic or television antecedent ... another interesting development. Perhaps at some point there should be a friendly debate thread on the subject of where kaiju is going, Western influence, Japanese collaboration with Western artists, and the attendant pros and cons. I think about this all the time ... it's fascinating and very much a "global village" thing.

I agree, I think the Zag will work well as a punk and this is going to be a fancy punk with lots of color and wood bases!

I wish we could see some art work already. Paul, who did the artwork for the Punk?
