No kidding. That's my childhood right there. I actually owned some of that stuff as a kid.

You guys are old! Or maybe I'm just jealous cause all the good mascots were ruined by the time I started eating the stuff. :(

Koogle Banana Peanut Spread? Oh man, that sounds pretty tasty.

I know that back in the day there was an abundance of premiums, but I never knew about all of those sets of different colored mascot figures. It seems like there's a ton of them out there.

There's something about old school hand rendered type that I love. It's got a sort of homemade, amateur feel to it. I also love the delightfully stereotypical images portrayed in the older Funny Face mascots.

Oh yea, and these monster pins are incredible: <a class=\"postlink\" href=\"http://flickr.com/photos/willywonka/718572422/\">http://flickr.com/photos/willywonka/718572422/</a>

Koogle! LOL Wow, Cecil and Beany, Funny Face punch ... things I didn't realize were still there in the nether regions of memory. The stuff shown that I remember was from when I was a very little boy, but memories nonetheless. I don't remember those glow cards but they must have been fun.

What a wonderful collection, and a great post Abe! Thanks.

My most fondly-remembered cereal premium was a copy of "Honey Honey" by The Archies that was basically a flexi-disc embedded on the back of a box of Honeycomb cereal. You had to cut the disc out with scissors ... the cardboard box provided the backing to the vinyl ... and it played pretty well!

...and yeah, those monster pins are way cool. I love monster art for kids from the late 1960s. It was groovy grusome!

Thanks for the spin in the wayback machine...had a few childhood flashbacks (good ones) looking at some of that stuff...

It seems in my mind like there was much cooler promo stuff given out during the late 60s & 70s than there is today...or maybe it was just because I was a kid then and just about everything was fun!
