cyborg ultra father . not just pipe cleaner bendies and glitter but thet put a plastic cyborg inside .
Really cool stuff Jim! You are the master! One really weird thing i saw on my trip to Japan was a vintage vinyl catcher's mitt with Ultraseven on it. really weird and expensive. Now, there's one particular fish like pirhanna guy i saw that was going for wayyyyy alot of Yen . Do you know anything about that? I think he was from an early 70's cartoon, the one with the swimming boy with the knife. Please enlighten me if you can. That was a really nice fig.
i think you mean triton of the sea . really bad pic but he is the green guy in the middle . wish i didnt have my stuff in storage or i would post a better shot . i did visit your web page paul and all i can say is wow ! you changed it quite a bit ! dont have a dictionary handy and i think eveyone has used everything good to describe your painting capabuilities anyway .
Yuki of Kimono My House in Emeryville showed me a Ultraman vinyl baseball glove about a little over month ago. It has a "embossed(?) image of Ultraman and the ultraman logo in red, silver(?) and light blue on yellow vinyl(i think). It was very very old but was still "mint in bag". Not a bad price too for such a rare piece! I would pick it up but I'm just not a vintage vinyl aficionado, or rather I think I don't have the appreciation for something like that yet to be able to own it . But i'm really interested in learning the history of kaiju. That is why I'm really digging the vintage vinyl section! Anyways, if anyone is interested, I'm sure Yuki can hook it up if he still has it.
I believe my brother had that exact Zaboga on the left of the photo. We were kids on a family trip to Hawaii in the early 70's. He got the vinyl Zaboga and I got Ron, the guy in my avatar. (Jim, you already know about my quest to possess Ron, again.) If memory serves me, that Zaboga is about 10"-12", or thereabouts. Is that made by Bullmark? At the time, I'd never heard of Zaboga or Ultraman, but this kid that lived across the street from my grandmother had this huge collection of Ultra Kaiju. I mean, 20, 30 figures, maybe more. They were displayed all over his room. He had a Zaboga toy that, as I remember it, was the coolest toy EVER. About the same size as the vinyl, but it wasn't vinyl. Maybe PVC or perhaps even metal. Motorcycle wheels came out of his chest. The top of his head flipped over and a helicopter came out of it. His fist shot off. I think it had a chain attached so that it woudn't get lost. Both of his boots opened up and little cars came out. It was awesome. Anyone know anything about that toy? And why the heck do they make Ultra toys every day of the week, but nobody has reissued any Zaboga toys? Never saw the show, but from what I saw of the toys back in the day, Zaboga was a badass!!!
i think the zaboga you are reffering to is from the mecha line . some of these came in (THIN ) plastic or vinyl or even poly . far left is rockbat and his robot to the far right . the upper half of this guy comes off and is a car . the hawaii version of the zaboga vinyl is different by the color as it is white like the one i have . later today i will try to post catalog pic of the whole mecha line . i know i have seen the catchers mitt somewhere so now i will have to dig through my books .
pic from a bullmark catalog . missle fire zabitan deluxe version i thought was also in the mecha series but maybe not .
zabitan is the boxed one in the back with the regular missle fire version in front of him . was really sure up until now he was part of the mecha line up .
Holy Guacamole, Jim!!! How big is your collection? Maybe you should write a book or something. It's tough to make out the details of that Zaboga from the mecha line in that catalog photo. Does his head flip over with helicopter and all the rest I described in my previous post?
dont really know if there is a helicopter that comes out of the head . if i find out i will let you know . paul , the mecha godzilla is one of those holy grails i have been chasing for years . even won one on yahoo but it turned out the auction was a scam . please post so i can sit in front of my computer and cry .
i'm loving those kaiju helmets. There are some hats by yonezawa as well, those came in bags... you have some of those, Jim? If i'm not mistaken, Jim has the dinosaur on the right as well... I've seen some of those guys at yahoo jp too for like 50,000 yen
i know which kaiju helmets you are talking about subterranean . the zazarn one is one i allways wished i owned . the only other helmets i have are from go ranger . what i want to know is where you got that pic of those triton kaiju !! do you own those ? yeah , i would say the entry point for these guys is about 40 000 yen and up . thanks for posting that pic . thats the first time i have ever seen all together .
I believe Yonezawa was the company that released the majority of the kaiju helmets. I'll post my pics soon. Including my fave. Zazaan
jim, unfortunately those the triton kaijus are not from my collection (i wish they were!) i got the pic from a vintage toy store website nice! i didn't know that most of the helmets were by Yonezawa... the ones i've seen are king joe, ultra seven and other kaiju i don't know his name. i think yonezawa made some baseball gloves as well.
