By itself, its not much, I would'nt even call it a toy and probably doesn't belong here(?) But I know a couple of people who sculpt and do garage kits and the basic bust might be a good starting point for non-kaiju works like a zombie. It would take a good fair amount of build up but it may be better than heavy clay base. I still don't understand why there are octopus legs on one... this 'toy' looks like it should be in Amazing Model Figure or the X-facto website.
Pathetic. It looks as if the sculptor set out on doing a detailed skull and was like "You know what, no thanks, I'll just make some swooping lines and curves and shit. People will eat this up!"
damn.....if this thing can get made into a toy, then all of us should try to bust one out....i mean....c'mon!!
"AWESOME! I gotta great idea! I'm gonna put a skull on an octopus, lemme start sculpting" ::30 min later:: "YAWN, I'm tired...maybe I'll take a break..what's on TV? HHMM Cheech and Chong......meh, this looks done enough screw it, it's 'Corsican Brothers' TIME!"
No, it's not at all. I love octopi (and a large number of other sea animal), as well as skulls. This toy blows.
zomboid's band uses cool tentacle art on their CD/LP covers. Maybe that's related to his appreciation? When it comes to tentacle toys, make mine Blobpus.
Looks like a DKE Toys manufacture - they are a distributer out of LA. Too bad they didn't stay a dsitributer........
I have been moving over to kaiju for several reasons. Now there's another one. Why does everybody have to rush to market? We all want money, but we want to buy good toys with it too!
Funny, when I showed it to my brother at the SDCC because I thought he might have an interest in it, he said 'Hmm, Id rather do it myself and right" He then turned and got some Kaniza-blanks... which seemed more inspiring and oddly for a Western toy I seem to sort of like. So much for what I know...up close, the lower jaw looks really off to me for some reason.
it is not manufactured by DKE, just distroed. This is meant to be used as a basic 'blank core' to sculpt/paint on. Its NOT an 'art/vinyl/toy' but more of a 'garage kit' type of thing.
Yeah sound about right, I told the guy he will have better luck looking into Kitbuilder magazine and Amazing Model Figures than here...
