Hot damn! (No puns intended.) I'm in awe Kirk. Awesome colors, masking, and fades. All perfect for the figure. So ... um ... when ya gonna start selling these bad boys?
Thanks Dean! hmmmm, not sure if I would sell any of them. If anyone was interested, I might paint one of their figures...
Gotcha. I'm still just amazed at how you went from not doing customs to being one of the best around in no time flat. Got some talent there for sure.
Kind of a big bite on PK's masking style, dont you think? I'm all for folks customizing their stuff if they want, but try to be a bit more original.
masking is not original to Master Paul. you comparing me to PK is an honor for me which I take as a huge compliment but a huge insult to him. Please apologize to Paul immediately!
Obviously, however... It seems you would agree with me that the masked flames are something of a signature motif of Paul's that he has used frequently in the past. This was the part that I really found distasteful. I don't think that Paul supports himself exclusively by doing custom paint jobs for people, but I'm sure doesn't hurt. I don't know the man well enough to assume anything, but if it were me, as an artist, I certainly wouldn't appreciate someone biting my style and then attempting to profit from it. I'm not some anti-custom "purist", just calling the situation as I see it.
I take great offense at your suggestion that I am trying to profit off of Paul's designs. Nothing could be further from the truth. first of all, i'm not selling any customs. If someone wants me to paint one of their figures, I would consider it....with or without flames maybe even for free. although probably not for you unless you apologize.
I think this one is as great as a PK or Lash custom Kirk. I also didn't know flames were a copyright infringement on customizing. I would love to own this custom man and any "flaming" on this figure is uncalled for. Customs are becoming my favorite pieces and I would be happy to put this figure with my PK's, Lash, Motorbot, and SS customs! IKe
The flames stuff is all over toys, western and eastern, and in a whole bunch of pop and subversive works rangings from bike, to cars, from cigarette lighters to strippers asses... I would not be surprised if Kirkland was inspired by PK works to do flames, but it doesn't mean there was any ill intention behind it other than a inspiration, if it is even that... Ill adimit that I do not do a lot of customs here, I do garage kits, but when I first got here I saw some really bad customs, then I saw some work from Paul then I decided to have some fun with the 40+ blanks I got Paul knows his work is king
Wow Toybot this is a Killer!!! With or Without flames. Yes we see the flames and think PK...but the Master is ahead of the Game and Im sure if there is an issue PK will contact Toybot and they can work it out themselves.
Is PK unoriginal when he emulates traditional kaiju paint jobs as he did recently on some cool Bakobasos for loudwizard? Nah, recycling and emulation are part of the game. Besides. similar to what redhanded said, airbrushed racing flames are as old as muscle car customization, at least. If you think it's "too PK," call it a tribute.
