Thanks A! That made the day much brighter...sure it's hawking some overpriced labels but I got over that as soon as that girl was sucked into the panda-kun. Kawaii!
Gah, so excited! As I understand it, they are making Murakami/LV bags specifically for this show and will have enough until the show is over. Thank god. I dragged my sorry ass all-over Europe for one of those stupid bags a few years ago.
I love Murakami's paintings and sculptures and am glad that he has a friend in the curatorial staff of the SFMOMA. However, that LV stuff looks all KR-hoody to me. It's amusing as pop art, but no way do I want to be seen with it LOL. Now one of his kooky flowered soccer balls, yeah, I'd display that. I keep forgetting to buy his Monopoly game. That looks like a blast.
I agree. And I'm not a fan of DOB or Kai Kai and Ki Ki either. But yet I'm still a fan of Murakami. I particularly like the flower prints (both the large flowers and the smaller flowers).
What a great video. I count myself as a Murakami fan but even on my most daring fashion days, I don't think I could pull of a man purse.
hope this doesnt make me sound like a douche, but i love me some LV--just recently i went buck wild and spent a small fortune on a bunch of bags/accessories--toy collection was benched for a bit. have always loved murakami and his LV stuff is awesome--the bags covered in the eye design were the coolest. on a fun related note, here is a Simpsons LV magazine spread (homer looks like such a snob!).
murakami stuff is wild - love the Dob period - it hard to remember how innovative it was back in 90's pre-toy/character boom. Still enjoy seeing his stuff around town here - this video was playing at the Tokyo LV store a couple years back when they first launch the line. still trippy. I heard a statistic that more than 90% of Japanese women own at least one LV item. what mag was that Simpson/LV stuff in??? it's cool!
that statistic is true! i was in japan about 2 years ago and my friend who i was staying with said that almost all women in Japan have LV products, it's considered one of the most popular and desirable handbags/wallet/luggage there. sure enough, walking around it seemed like everyone had them and i noticed on the plane that most japanese travelers had LV luggage. too much!
