Couldn't agree more. Brilliant on Ecko's part. I loved his attitude when he heard that Bonds petulantly called him "stupid". "Really? That's great! Did he vote?"

Wow. I had no idea Marc Ecko bought that ball (I don't give two shits about pro sports but had obviously heard about the record in passing). Very cool. Respect for him +1000.

i hate the idea. hope it gets shot in outer space.

anyways... it is official. bonds will not be back with the giants next year. in a way i'm sad and in a way i'm relieved. time to rebuild... watching bonds bat was like, the only reason why I went to games the last few years.

Yeah, I've had some harsh words for the cheating, but he was an amazing player to watch. I don't remember any other batter making such a sharp "crack!" sound when hitting the ball. Hopefully the Giants will get back to playing like a team.

So he bought the ball huh? Did anyone see when Mark "Taged" Air Force One? Lame fake publicity stunt then. At least he actually doing something this time. I still think he's a tool.

The Giants are not renewing Bond's contract in 2008.

i don't see anything genius about this...

like lulu said,,,marc echo is a tool....

he will do anything to get noticed (including spending almost a mill on a baseball)

one of my closest friend's has done lots of graphic/concept work with him & can attest to how lame marc echo is...

for one,,he is constantly trying to short change my friend for his hard work & takes months to pay invoices (while he is of pulling publicity stunts like this)..

besides the financial bullshit,,my friend says that he is so concerned with looking cool & being "street" that he ends looking like a chump...the only reason his entourage of "yes" people hang around is because of the money...

I am no huge fan of Ecko but this is a great idea regardless of who is behind it.

Most people who excel at self-promotion are probably tools. I would have been even more impressed if hooters or taco bell thought up the idea. And I'm not even a Bonds hater.

Here here. Never understood it. Probably why I'm an overweight toy nerd though.

Back on track, the amount of coverage he's getting should cover the cost quite easily, which in marketing terms does make him quite a smart tool. Or just a plain tool who employees some smart people. Always hard to tell.

It must be an English thing. I don't even like..... football ..... shhhhhh

Besides Neil, overweight is all relative. Have you ever been to an all-u-can-eat Vegas buffet?

I don't think you even need to wander into the all you can eat buffets... My brother-in-law and his wife moved to Vegas for a job with the EPA, and they gained like 20 pounds from hitting buffets and just having access to 24 hour chow. Fortunately, they've since lost all the weight again...

And, do you not like Soccer, or Futbol Norte Americano?

Never been but I think I could do mysell some damage. If it's there I eat it. I might not like it, but I'll eat it.

Got a staff canteen at work and that's bad enough. Two pound a day for a three course pile it high food fest. Combine that with a general lack of exercise and I'm headed for my university O'Pork glory days. Not good.

PS Glad I'm not the only english man who finds football so dull it hurts.

i voted to have the ball just put into the hall of fame

baseball has had many cheaters and overall crappy people that have celebrated different levels of fame. it's only that bonds broke such a well known record that peope made such a stink over it. if he had broken the most outfield assists record, this would not be an issue

there's no asterisk on ty cobb's plaque for being a racist asshole

the ball is a piece of baseball history for better or worse, and should go into the hall of fame as is. either that or dont give it to the hall at all. dont brand it. let the fans bring their own notions about it.
