thanks Roger can anyone that got the Death Proof DVD confirm whether or not it still has the switched title card gag?
planet terror doesn't come out til next month. i haven't bought death proof yet. i would like to have the film in its entirety but i doubt i would ever sit down in my house and watch it straight through. i want those trailers though.
They kept the title gag, I watched it last night and I have to say It was even longer then in theathers. Almost two hours and most of the added scences were taking. It still has the scatrching effects and some skipping. Hope that helps
Yup, effects are there. Although I could have done without most of the added scenes, they were definitely cut for a reason haha ( especially the 20 minute scene at the convenience store, ugh). For the record I saw this in the theatre 3 times, and I would do it again.
the thing is, I don't know if they were cut. I believe they were either shot after or done in advance with the idea that Tarantino planned to release his half on it's own at some point in the future. As much as he wanted the double feature, he also wanted his film to be full length.
Actually yea you're probably right, I guess I meant in reference to Weinstein's decision as they usually do the cutting. I have read so many different things I just sort of lost track, but I think you're right.
Okay, I started digging through the Planet Terror DVDs. The fun trailers like Thanksgiving aren't there. Did they end up on the Death Proof DVD?
I haven't got Planet Terror yet, But I assume these are only bare on the extras. I bet there will be a Box-set with all the trailers since they lost so much money with this movie, so they want to milk it as long as they can.
I was way too drunk when I went to see these flicks opening day. Planet terror was chill but I like Romero still. I felt like I was watching bootleg b-movies done like d-movies instead of a-movies done like b-movies that were bootlegged. Schwiiiiiiing.
Okay, after actually running the movie I see that the Machete trailer is tacked onto the front of Planet Terror. Makes sense, because that was Rodriguez's too. Did anyone ever figure out if that kid's line "I'm gonna eat your brain and gain your knowledge" was a reference to something? Not exactly news, but: Rose McGowan. Wow.
I think that was an original line and a very successful one at that, since I hear lots of horror nerds quote it fairly often (last night as a matter of fact).
It sounds really familiar, though, like some 80s pop culture reference. Like something a bad guy on Inhumanoids or Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors would say.
