Sorry for the rant, but I just bought (2) $35 tickets from Ticketmaster & the fees were an additional $36. FUCKERS!
at least you got tickets! I think TM blows because of their unscroupulous re-sale practices. After searching for tickets, to find nothing I was re-directed to a TM partner site that.. just happened to have the tix I wanted for $400 bux. they also have auctions for "unsold" tickets after everything is sold out. then you have to bid on tix. I too have ticketbastard is the bastard.
From the details: ADULT Tickets US $35.00 x 2 Total Convenience Charge(s) US $9.70 x 2 Total Building Facility Charge(s) US $6.00 x 2 Order Processing Charge US $5.15 TOTAL CHARGES US $106.55 At least I will see Radiohead (w/ binoculars), but I would rather they get my money than ticketmaster.
Looks like they're getting the same billing forms as telephone & cable companies! -BS Charge -Bogus Charge -Just for fun Charge -It's Saturday Charge
$6 facility fee is fucking high, what kind of venue is it? That's usually like $1-2, the service charge and processing fee also look a little higher than what it is in Canada. All in all it's fucked up that the charges are that high, especially on a lower priced ticket.
Ticketmaster is raping the customer any which way they can. The fee I hate the most is their processing fee. Isn't it their job to process our orders? Why should we be charged another 4-5 dollars for that. We already paid their service charge;why a processing fee?
It's been this way for years. I remember buying tickets to see Superchunk at the Metro in Chicago (because I knew it would sell out); tickets were $6 per and the fees for 2 tickets were something like $16 - more than the fucking tickets themselves! I don't care for Pearl Jam, but I really had to applaud their anti-Ticketmaster stance of a few years back.
but surely their entire service is based on convenience, they can't charge you that on top of service fees etc. Wouldn't that be like Super 7 charging you an extra fee because the piece was vinyl?
that's friggin hillarious....but sad and true all at the same time... congressional hearings with eddie vedder, and yet they still overcharge us.... fricken bastids!!
Do they charge the fees if you get tix from the actual venue box office? It used to be if you got tix at the venue, though still through ticketmaster, there was no extra TM charge. But I haven't gone to a show that required TM in a year or 2, may have changed.
some venues charge facility fees even if you buy directly from them. i've been charged anywhere from .50 to $5 each ticket. it sucks.
yep...unfortunately these scams has been going on for a LONG time...just like some toy stores who charge double for usps flat rate shipping...
Most theaters and arenas charge their own facility fee, it's usually a couple bucks, that has nothing to do with Ticketmaster, the facility fee on this show seems way to high. The TM convenience fee is their main service charge and sometimes it will have things like credit card charges and other things lumped into it. The processing fee is just on phone or internet orders and it's a per order charge, not per ticket. They will also charge you more to print your tickets at home for some reason, that ones the most ridiculous because it makes it easier for them. I've found that most Theaters/Arenas that don't sell through Ticketmaster and have their own ticketing systems have pretty comparable charges these days, not sure about in the US though. And no matter what anybody thinks about Pearl Jam they do look out for their fans a lot more than most bands I've seen.
Sorta appreciated Ticketmaster after the WASTE site drama- will I get a "cannot display page message again"?, will these tickets still be in the basket when the page changes? and on and on. Part of the cost has to be TM's ability to handle the heavy traffic. Their fees are kinda buggin but the extra fees charged by WASTE were exactly the same as TM on my orders. Go figure. Fack, I'm just relieved I got tickets!
