Yes. If what I heard is their best, imagine the rest. It's boring music. They deserve the hate of a second tread !
Lifelong metallica fan here - since '86 anyway. It's not the best album ever, but i think its on par with the Black Album. So far so good.
kill em all and ride the lightning are amazing. master of puppets borders awesome and ...and justice for all is a fine metal album, dyer's eve is the fucking jam. and appetite for destruction is an awesome rock n roll record. you cant fuck with mr. brownstone or rocket queen.
Truth - all of it. I would go so far as to say that "Appetite..." is the best "hard rock" album ever. "Rocket Queen" is the underdog hero of that album.
Ah well, your favorite band sucks, right? As far as i am concerned, AJFA was the pinnacle of what I love about Metallica. The black album was a letdown at first, but when load and re-load came out, those made it look heavy as hell. I still insist that Bob Rock is the Antichrist. So far, Cyanide is ok, but The Day that Never Came is borderline AJFA material. Sure, it kind of sounds like metallica covering metallica, but so what really? It gets my blood pumping that matters. DRI sucked after crossover, BTW.
I just got the 2 Carnivore Cd yesterday. I did'nt listened to these since I sold the LPs the somewhere around 89'. It surprisingly hold well today - as oppose to the first 3 Metallica albums (the only 3 I liked at the time..) that did not age well.
I haven't listened to Metallica in ages, but with all the crap hype (which should have been my first clue) I thought, ok... Let's see. what the fuck were they thinking? Even by their standards, as low as they may be, they can't have thought that a Guitar Hero track would get them fans back. upping the ante with those terrible emoesque vocals... please please send them back to therapy. Or medicate them so much that they can't move.
Black album and later suck, sorry, it's a fact. If you like it that's fine. I like sucky things, I'm honest about their suckiness though. Star Wars Ep 1-3, sucky, but I enjoy them. I'm ok with that. I always find Master to be my favorite. Kill em All rules but kind of seemed more like a demo or a small taste of what Lightning and Master had coming. AJFA always leaves me dry though. I enjoy it, but it just seems a little sterile. Metallica should die.
Agree that Black was the beginning of the end... And when whatsisface went on his anti-mp3/piracy crusade, they just dropped off the radar for me completely.
Oh, come on. There are a couple decent songs on the Black Album- Sad But True, Wherever I May Roam, and Of Wolf & Man and I don't mind a few others. why do you haters hate it so?
