okay, so I know this is probably a weird thing to post here on the toy board, but we're in the market for a new mattress, and considering how expensive they are we want to make sure we get a good one. we're looking at a Serta or a Simmons, but I want to hear some other recommendations from those of you who have better mattresses than dirty futon pads
I have a Sterns and Foster, and it's super comfy... I have a bad back, and it gives really good support.
Have you noticed that all mattress companies start with an "s", except Tempurpedic. Stearns and Foster. Sealy. Serta. Spring Air.
Sterns and Foster is the best out there and they are priced like it too. I just bought one about two months ago and love it. There's so many bizarre things about how mattresses work. Like everyone gets the same mattresses but with different names which makes it really hard to price them out. You want the memory foam top because it doesnt flatten like the pillow top does in a few years. I wish I could remember other things but I've tried to block it all from my memory. It made buying a car look like fun.
I got a tempur-pedic because I had alot of trouble getting to sleep. I was surely skeptic but i've had it for 3 years now and don't regret it for a second. The only thing I would change since I weigh more than average would be to get the thicker matress. I think it's a 20 year guarantee and you can send it back if you don't like it. Give it a week or so though it takes a few nights to get used to. I also slept in a Sealy Posturepedic at a Best Western. That was uber-comfy too.
Is that the "Dead hooker's body stuffed inside" model? I hear dead hookers offer great lumbar support...

Best thread since Mid August... I'm moving and want a new bed What's the word on Tempurpedic and the Sleep Number beds?
Whatever you get make sure it's pillow top. The only probably you'll have is that you'll never want to get out of bed.
Well for those of you coming up for the Gargamel show at GH you could always check out Dixie Mattress: http://www.ask-steve.com/2006/12/portland-hall-o.html
I got a Serta Perfect Sleeper at the beginning of the year and I love it. Skylar, do you have Sleepy's down by you? I dealt with them, highly recommended.
What's your budget? I've had a memory foam mattress (on a platform bed) since march and I'm very happy with it. I couldn't afford tempurpedic, so I considered Ikea and Costco but ended up buying from foambymail.com. I was sketched about buying online, but I read good reviews about them and everything was cool. If I had a bigger budget I would have bought a latex foam mattress instead of the poly memory foam.
