    Re: Election Prediction

Much better choice than what the GOP is offering.

    McCain was wrong about Iraq
    McCain is surrounded by lobbyists
McCain would "spread the wealth" among the upperclass
McCain has problems communicating a clear steady message in these difficult times

and Palin is a complete disaster

I'll be so glad when this is all over tomorrow. Of course I'll only be glad if Obama is elected as everyone is projecting.

    Re: Election Prediction

I'm a Republican. But I'm voting for Obama. Just made that decision today. Just tired of the GOP. Tired of having a president/vice-president that can't speak. Saw some coverage of Palin - how can a vice-president candidate answer questions with a 'you-got-cha', 'you-bet-cha', 'oh, no! Say it ain't so, Joe', etc. She doesn't have a clue on foreign matters either. And I question McCain's judgement for selecting such a candidate. Guess he was trying to capture some of Hillary's momentum instead of selecting the best candidate based on experience and turning the country around. The GOP is surrounded by lobbyists, but so are the Democrats. But I go back to the old saying..."If you continue to do what you've done, you're going to continue to get what you got". So I hope Obama really is about change. And I hope he doesn't pull out the troops out of Iraq (like Clinton did in Somalia) unless conditions warrant it.

How sad... Barack Obama's ailing grandmother passed away today. Win or lose, it would've been nice for her to see the results of her grandson's presidential bid.

He's already said, "I'm going to end this war." I take that to mean he will pull them out almost immediately. Otherwise, how could he possibly pay for all the promises he is making about health care, education, etc.

Obama also seems more than happy to stick more troops in, so his "End this war" comment seems to mean, see it through.

Regardless I hope he gets it.

Best of luck America, you may need it.

He wants to move them from Iraq to Afghanistan. End this war........continue another?

Whatever screw both these douche bags, I'm up at 5:15 to brave the voter lines and get this shit over with. One "Thrown Out Vote" coming up!

    Good morning.

So who did everyone cast their votes for? Barr? McKinney? Nader?

    Re: Election discussion thread.

Nader will be the upset in this election... ;)

Our local polling place had a nice long line outside at 6am, and was still as long when I left at 6:40...not very organized as far as getting people checked in, but the voting was swift. I really do hope that Obama comes through this as president.

It is too bad that we have no way to give an exiting president some type of performance review during these elections---I wish that Bush could truly understand the level of disappointment and embarrassment that his eight years in office have brought to this country.

    Good luck to us all.

    Re: Election discussion thread.

I cast my vote 6am this morning.

Almost got into it with an older psycho rich effected woman. She was literally driving 10 mph in a 40 zone and when my g/f tried to pass her she suddenly floored it and went 90 through a red light. Turns out she parks right next to us (unlucky for her) to vote. My g/f rolls her window and goes "Nice driving I FART A LOT!" Of course she then starts picking her ass in her mink coat (who votes with a mink coat in 60 degree weather?) and cuts in front of two people in line, because she "knew" someone in line. I wanted to drop kick her into next week.

I didn't get much better inside as the retarded election crew had nothing set up right. They open the doors and about 50 people roll inside not knowing what desk to approach to sign in because they didn't label the tables with district numbers. People were pretty pissed. Anyhow glad it's over with....hoping to send insane McCain and his brain-dead running mate both to early retirements.

    Re: Election discussion thread.

With any luck, we should know by tonight. Polls close at 7pm, and there should be a pretty good indication of which way it will go by 10pm (or so) CA time---I hope!

One of the guys I work with said that the power went off at his polling place and he had to hand in his ballot to some election official with the hopes that they would run it through the scanner when the power comes back up. Hopefully, there will not be many issues like that delaying the counting process.

Oh that fast, I thought talking about hours is a little bit optimistic since one time it took a few months.

I predict we know who wins by around 7pm EST. I have a strong feeling NC will go for Obama, and if that happens, McCain is done.

    Re: Election discussion thread.

He will definitely be transitioning troops from Iraq to Afghanistan. I pity the people that actually believe Obama is going to "end the war"...it's just a different war, and the one we should have been focusing on the whole time. I just shudder to think how much money this country has dropped into Iraq to "rebuild infrastructure" with nothing to show for it, and how we're still supposed to be helping rebuild Afgan infrastructure.

As for voting, couldn't be easier here in WA. I've got a mail-in ballot that I can drop off at the County Admin building so it gets counted today. No long lines or annoying people.

Same here. I voted two weeks ago! I really don't understand why all states don't use the OR/WA format. I have to think it'd increase voter turn-out too.
