I'm talking new, don't give me a "sabbath Vol. 4!". So far I've been listening new Masshysteri record quite a bit. they're a swedish punk band in a KBD style. Also been rocking the new Marked Men record "ghosts". Amazing "punk" band from texas, with a style even Chris kohler loves. So far I'm calling this record of the year. Also happens to have a photo by Alex Zavaleta(that's me guys) on the cover. just saying.

Cool! A chance to plug Crystal Castles! Far and away my fave album of 2008 simply cuz it was so different. Roots in chiptunes (music made from bastardized old synths, computers and chips from old video games), though they deny any connection with that scene and use traditional instruments too. I first came across them when they remixed Klaxons' "Atlantis To Interzone". They played Summer Sonic here this year, but I decided 18000 was too much to pay to see ONE BAND. Keep hoping they'll come back in their own right - I've heard their live show is somewhat akin to trepanation! At my last count they had FIVE MySpace pages, some fan-made, but I think there may be more now? Check 'em out: Main: http://www.myspace.com/crystalcastles Fan made collection of remixes by CC: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu ... =218743234 "It's THRASH Jim, but not as we know it ..."
no age - nouns. asobi seksu - hush. morrissey - years of refusal. cat power - dark end of the street. boris - cloud chamber. some of the new khanate tracks. awesome!
You are going to ruin my rep. People are going to start thinking that I like things now. Thanks a lot. I wish I could say I was listening to something new but the only time I hear new music is when my girlfriend picks out things to listen to on car rides and I don't know any of the bands. Its all beep beep beep music though and I don't care for it.
True, the Crystal Castles album is really great. They started up on the wrong side screwing up a Trevor Brown but they turned out OK. I’ve been blasting Satyricon’s Age of Nero the last couple of days. It’s a nice comeback, a bit too slow tho..

Nothing. Seriously, nothing NEW. It's gotten to the point where I don't even know what I want to listen to anymore. I'm old now, regurgitating the same stuff over and over. Though I love it all, the thirst for new is always there....but I can't find anything satisfying. Just more and more watered down crap trying to be the old, nothing exciting or interesting. It's all too pretentious or pre-meditated. Ugh, I feel like an old crotchety man at 28.
Thee Oh Sees - The Master's Bedroom... Factums - Spells and Charms Eat Skull - Sick To Death The Hospitals - Hairdryer Peace Catatonic Youth - Piss Scene Blank Dogs - Diana (The Herald) and pretty much everything else they've done. No Age - Nouns ...just to name a few.
That's how I felt when I was your age. After a few years of ignoring the music scene things started to sound much better.
They finally have an album out..?! Awesome, totally missed that! Fucked Up - The Chemistry of Common Life Fear & Loathing in Hunts Vegas Laura Marling - Alas, I Cannot Swim Los Campesinos - We Are Beautiful, We Are Doomed Metronomy - Nights Out Ra Ra Riot - The Rhumb Line Kommando Sonne-Nmilch - Scheisse Nicht Schon Wieder Bernstein Love Is All - A Hundred Things Keep Me Up At Night
This list pretty much sums up the street I live on....ughh... In fact, John Dwyer almost hit me with his bike last week. What a dick.
BD69 - I'm with ya. Plus the fact that I pretty much have to get all my music from the library makes it a bit more difficult. The only new(ish) album I've been listening to - and I've been listening the hell out of it! - has been Bison BC "Quiet Earth". Oh, a little bit of the newest Ratatat album, "LP3" too.
