emailed through my wife's email account. Duh.
My camera sucks too. Might be able to use the show as leverage to get better... or not. Ah well.
Very sorry I missed the earlier "tasteful" exuberance.
Would like to submit fairly straightforward stuff.

I'm going to enter. I know just the pic to send. emailing Kirkland. Few questions though:

How big does it have to be? Do I need to get the print enlarged? Is there a size limitation? what are the guidelines for that.

    FAQ by friend.

Q: What are the size requirements of the piece?
A: Up to you! They can be any size big or small. Just make sure they are framed and ready to hang.

See? Every time I post a question on skullbrain, someone edits the original post and then it makes my question look silly and redundant. Doh! :)

Actually I can't enter, the pic I want to enter has only a 72 dpi and the max on my shitty camera is 180 dpi. blowing it up would be a pixel mess. :(

It all depends on what quality you send them. They have a huge resource so they are pretty good. I just like to support local and I like to see the frames in person.

Emailed Kirkland to be added to the list! This sounds like fun!

Question: Is there a limit to how many pics you can send?

Glenn has the crazy, brilliant idea to make a deck of cards with 52 toy shots!

    this should be pretty cool....

Re: "Imagery of Japanese Toys" Show at S7 - Photographers Wanted

With the amount of people signed up, it might end up being 1 piece per person...especially if people are sending in 11"x14" + the frame. I'm only sending in 1 piece so I really gotta make it count. The show is going to be really awesome, after seeing the list of people doing this part. I'm wondering who will be doing customs other than the usual suspects.

I might give mine away free, but that might mess up the 60/40 split ;)

due to overwhelming response, we are limiting submissions to one (1) piece each. email me if you really want to send in two. Also, not everyone is guaranteed to get in the deck of cards or the book. Your submission will determine whether or not your piece with get in the book or deck of cards. So make your shot count!

So I think we have more than enough photographers at this point. Were really looking forward to all of the entries. Don't be shy to email me your digital photos early. this will help with the Deck of Cards and Photo book. Also think early about your pricing. This will help us as we near the show to get the correct pricing on each piece.

    thank you!

So where does a deck of cards fall into artist encroachment?

if the artist youre referring to is photographer, i dont see a problem. if you're referring to the toymaker, im not really sure. i would think that using somebody else's creation (the toy) as an element in a new creation (the photo) would be legit, but i am definitely not an expert on copyright. maybe somebody else here knows for sure?

Hmmm never thought about that. If I took a picture of a Murakami sculpture (as artsy fartsy as I can muster, lol) made it into a calendar and sold it/gave it away without permission from Murakami himself. There could be some intelectual property rights issues. a very sticky issue fo sure. :?
