I grew up on the Clash, and I also like Out COme teh Wolves period Rancid. Great songs IMO that I can still listen to now - unlike the Offspring. Obviously not classic like teh Clash - but still underated songwriters IMO. Dunno about more recent stuff.
true story: i used to live with lars in berkeley and skate with bret. one time at gilman they let me get up and sing hyena with them. andrew from screw 32 and i used to go to emb all the time and i learned kick flips off the big block there.
I always get Ruby soho stuck in my head, but it invariable becomes "really really really-really sold out"
Did you know that Karen, the Karen who used to work at Super7, also lived with Lars in the mid 90s. While we are at it. I was asked by tim/lint to play drums on some of his solo record a few years(and about 70lbs for me) ago. Very good time:
Never cared for Rancid, but I still listen to Op Ivy and Downfall on occasion. Does anyone have good emps of the Downfall demo?
I think maybe, maybe....Tim Armstrong is better than Strummer. There I said it. Armstrong writes hooks like no one in the business as far as I can tell. Now as far as respect for my elders yeah, no Clash = no rancid.
Saying Britney spears is a better song writer than John Lennon would probably be more effective troll bait but both that statement and the above are too absurd to argue. You'll never convince me these guy's aren't hacks and I'll not convince you they suck ass.
how bout Britney Spear and John Lennon both suck?! I know I know the beatles pioneered a bunch of shit but come on who actually listens to it? I do admit that I listen to Rancid. I do not wear their t-shirts, buttons, stickers, back patches, hoodies, or anything else that might indicate I tread so closely to hack-ville. It IS kind of embarrassing to admit to...besides you gotta give em credit for collaboration with BUJU BANTON Jamaican dance hall king.
I put you on ignore after your previous post in this thread. After overriding the feature and reading this one it reinforced my earlier opinion that you have absolutely nothing intelligent to say and are merely a rather ineffective troll. Buju Banton is perhaps a step up from Skrewdriver but could get you hammered badly here. Glowing references to musicians who promote racism, misogyny, and/or homophobia usually don't go over well on these boards.
I'm with Krudler on this one. Rancid are whack but I thought Bay Area punk died the day Gilman opened so there... </On Broadway trolling>
