SUNDAY JULY 26, 1:30 PM - 2:30 PM, ROOM 8 GODZILLA & THE MASTER OF MONSTERS: Join author August Ragone (Eiji Tsuburaya: Master of Monsters, Chronicle Books) for a visual tribute to Japan’s Master of Monsters, Eiji Tsuburaya, the man who created the analog special effects for Godzilla and invented the kaiju eiga (giant monster movie) genre. Much like Derek Meddings (Thunderbirds), Tsuburaya and his team built elaborate miniature city and landscapes, which were summarily destroyed in pyrotechnical conflagrations or by men in monster suits. See over a hundred rare, behind-the-scenes photographs from some of his major films, such as Rodan, The Mysterians, Mothra, and The War of the Gargantuas, all in one colossal presentation! I will also be signing copies of Eiji Tsuburaya at the Chronicle Books booth (#1506) on Saturday, July 25 from 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM. http://www.comic-con.org
You're not going to let us all down and postpone this one also are you? Kidding. Wish I could go this year. This sounds way more interesting than most of the stuff I've sat through at SDCC.
LOL! I guess one postponement isn't a big deal if you've produced over 400 shows that went off like clockwork, as I have! Anyhow, I was just going through my presentation for SDCC, and I'm at just around 200 photos at the moment...
But, I am a Gay Fish! I got it, Scooter -- my reply was a sarcastic "huh?" -- but I should have posted this icon instead: Although, I didn't want to be rude. Now, with the level of immaturity that has been leveled at me, who cares?
Here's a small sample of the images that will be shown at SDCC: Tsuburaya gives Haruo Nakajima his motivation. From GODZILLA RAIDS AGAIN, 1955.
"You'r big as hell, you're pissed, there's small buildings and you want to crush them, you're mother hated you as a child and your dog is dead: what will you do?"
Probably more along the lines of "the studio cut the budget again, now you are working just for the bragging rights of being the guy in the suit."
I was, sir, merely trying to point out in a gentle and humorous fashion the innate grammatical incorrectness of your thread title, and you call me 'immature'? (You are, may I remind you sir, on a TOY COLLECTORS' message board.) Anyway, for that I thank you. However, I cannot help but notice that you have not corrected the erratum. I simply refuse to believe that it was your intention to mislead, but I would have thoughten that one who had wrote, let me see ... how many? ... ah yes, A book would have had a better knowledge of the langauge of his forefathers. Then again, your an American, are'nt you? Btw, there's a junkshop in Jinbocho has a TON of those old pics of Eiji Tsubaraya etc. (They knocked them out like bubblegum cards back in the '60s.) LMK if your intrested & I can pick a few up for you.
I love irony. Um, sir if you are going to call people on grammar mistakes, please check your own post. it should read "Then again, you're an American, aren't you?" There is a HUGE difference between "your" and "you're" edit: I don't care if it was done intentionally he still is proving a lack of intelligence
