So the stupid jet stream has decided to do an extreme U curve giving me the weather of Portland Oregon for the summer. While I'm thankful it's not unbearably hot here, Buffalo summers are usually pretty dry and sunny. Now every weekend we get downpours and just this past week four small tornados in Erie county (not weather of Portland but weird). I think we've had just a total of a two weeks with temps around 80 since June 1st. Not the summer I envisioned (since our winters are so long). On the flip you cats out West are having a sweat fest. I had to do a double take on the temperature in Portland & Seattle?! 105? Are you kidding?
It's 90 inside my house! Fuck this!! They said on the weather today was the hottest day in over 100 years. We'll cool down to a high of 100 tomorrow. And before anybody calls us wimps, as said before, nobody has AC here.
At least your electric bill will be cheap. Sometimes my toy room gets so hot that I'm afraid that my toys will melt (3rd floor of a victorian house).
112 here the other day. Nice working outside in the sun. And my toys get soft while I am at work... Yeah. Global warming is just a story concocted by the fearmongers.
I remember back in June when it refused to warm up here I read Alaska was at 88! I knew we were in for a bizarre summer. Global warming is definitely no myth. Man you guys aren't wimps. I'd be crying all day long if I had to deal with 112, I'd be burying my toys underground in trash bags! Is it a dry heat or humid? Humidity is the killer.
ts been around 90 in our house for the past week or so-brutal. we have caved up in the bedroom, where we can block the sun & blast the AC-Its brutal anywhere else. I come in, throw stuff down & head straight to the bedroom since its the only room we can cool adequately. sucks!
Not too bad on the humidity most days. Turning into a desert around here for sure. Soon water will be more valuable than gold.
Vancouver is hotter than it's ever been in the history of Vancouver weather. Work's looking a lot better lately due to AC in the office!
Yep, 100s+ all week here in Portland. I can't even walk my dog after 10am, cuz the pavement is so hot it burns his feet. I believe today was a City record temp of 107 (in some parts). What does El Nino have in store for us next????
there is an ac at work, but i have a hour and a half bus commute to get there with no ac. so i equally look forward to/dread going to work.
Luckily our house DOES have central A/C. But it hasn't been working quite as well as it should - our house is definitely cooler, but it doesn't get frigid. Just got to work about an hour ago and there's no A/C today!?! It better kick on. I'm heading out to some natural water this weekend to cool off.
My girlfriend was telling me that she was riding the bus home from work yesterday afternoon, hottest day in Vancouver ever, and the bus seemed even hotter than normal, so they asked the bus driver and he said the ac wasn't working and instead was pumping out hot air and he couldn't turn it off!
I'm lucky here in San Diego, the temp hardly ever deviates from the norm (unless the Santa Ana winds kick up, and then suddenly it's 100 degrees, so dry your lips crack and you can feel your eyeballs moving slower, and windy as hell). That usually doesn't kick up until October or so, so check back in a couple months.
Well I left AZ for most of the summer, but my family has told me its reaching the normal highs of 110! Love AZ summers...stay inside with central air, go outside at night to go swimming.
